No thank you

What do you feel from watching it? What exactly about it appeals to you?

With the issues that Lemmy clients have blurring content, and the problems some people have marking things NSFW or NSFL, I think that gore should be kept to its own instance.

DarkThoughts, in is there any interest in gore on this platform?

No. And I think if you have such a fetish for it you should seek professional help.

I mean nothing is stopping anyone from making their own instance of watchpeopledie. Just that they will be defederated from every single instances.

I’m not interested but i guess if you keep it isolated to a community or instance i can block then that’s fine. As long as it’s ethically sourced gore

Dathknight, in What is something really stupid you purchased that turned out far better than expected?

A 3D-Printer, I thought I just play around with it and get bored, but you discover so many things that you can do!

The handle on the fridge broke? Print new ones. Need a Flowerpot? Just print one. The router needs a wallmount? I have one ready in a few Hours.

Also I can watch it print for hours, very fascinating and calming.

UsernameLost, in This is not the place for support questions.

YOU’RE NOT MY SUPERVISOR

but yeah, seeing dozens of support related questions kinda goes against the expressed purpose of this community.

Bug zapper flyswatter. Like you can buy at Harbor Freight for a few bucks. It might not be a terribly effective solution to the overall fly population, but in terms of grim-bloody-vengeance-per-dollar, it’s one of the best investments I’ve ever made.

My wife bought me a Beard Bib as a joke gift after I found it online one day. It’s basically a smaller version of the bibs you wear when getting your hair cut, but with suction cups attached to the bathroom mirror to hold it horizontal and catch stray hairs when using an electric shaver. It looks ridiculous.

I now use it every time I trim my beard, even if my wife still laughs at me every time she sees me in it. Cleaning up all the stray hairs was always a pain in the ass, but this thing does a surprisingly good job at catching 99% of the hair, and I can just brush it all into the trash when I’m done.

Got a bidet as a joke gift for Christmas a few years ago, it has been an absolute game changer. Hate pooping anywhere but home now, I actually feel clean, and use much less toilet paper.

An oversized poncho cape from the local Goodwill. It was woven in different shades of blue and while I’d never wear it outside, I’ve used it as a wearable blanket at home for a few years now.

I found out it was actually hand made, and costs 300+ USD from the original shop. Bonus points, I feel like a wizard when I wear it

UntouchedWagons, in What from reddit do you hope to never see on lemmy?
@UntouchedWagons@lemmy.ca avatar

Toddlerisms like danger noodle (snakes) or velvet hippos (pitbulls I think)

nutlink, in Greetings fellow Lemmings! What was the stupidest thing you ever did?

Do I have to pick only one? I wasn’t a very bright kid.

  • Willingly let someone taze my testicles in exchange for a beer
  • Chased black bears off the trail behind our house for no reason, usually with nothing more than a nearby stick
  • Skinny dipping in a river known to be filled with leeches
  • Got in a drunk argument with a raccoon, which led to my first underage drinking ticket because I refused to be spoken to in that tone
  • Became friends with said raccoon and even met its kits once over stale day old bread I brought home from my high school job at Jimmy John’s
  • Made a potato gun and accidentally fired it backwards, breaking the glass window in the garage
  • Threw M80’s into the water to go fishing Crocodile Dundee style
  • Believed a girl I barely knew when she said she was on the pill
Klicnik, in Lemmy, AITA for disliking copied content from Reddit in the AmITheAsshole community?
@Klicnik@sh.itjust.works avatar

You are not the asshole. The purpose of that community is to have communication with humans. When a bot posts a question there, there is no reason to respond. It’s not a human asking, and the human that originally asked in another forum will never see the response. I blocked that spammy bot, and have enjoyed my feed way better since.

blendedracer, in What's the best way to find instances and communities?
@blendedracer@aussie.zone avatar

Hello fellow Redditugee, I found Lemmy Explorer https://lemmyverse.net/communities to be very handy. I like the layout and the search/sort capability. The process I followed to subscribe to communities was to:

  • In Lemmy Explorer, click on the community@instance name (eg !maliciouscompliance), which automagically copies it to the clipboard.
  • Then in my home instance (aussie.zone) I clicked on the search icon (magnifying glass) and pasted the details into the search box.
  • I then click Next (not search).
  • The search will initially show “No Result” while it searched the Fediverse, but then the community will show up (I’m using dark mode so it shows up in green as a link).
  • I click on the link to open the community from my home instance and click on the subscribe button. Initially the community may be set to “Subscribe Pending” - I guess it needs to be reviewed. I’ve also managed to subscribe to Kbin magazines from Lemmy using this process. Note: this is on PC using Firefox
