6% of car drivers are cold blood animal killers, 89% of which are SUV drivers

ENG
Interesting experiment showing car drivers intentionally going on the road shoulder to kill by standing (fake) animals. Not surprisingly the majority of those are drivers

ITA
Interessante esperimento "scientifico" in cui si vedono automobilisti cambiare traiettoria per investire animali finiti sul lato della strada. La maggior parte guidano SUV

A friend of mine hit a deer and totalled his (compact sedan) car. My cousin swerved to dodge a deer, hit a tree and totalled the family pickup.

REPTILIANS ARE REAL!

JPAKx4,

I have yet to hit an animal while driving but it’s probably coming. I’m gonna be so sad :(

PennyAndAHalf,

I hit a deer last year after twenty years of uneventful driving. It was on a highway known for drunk drivers so I was hyper aware and my reaction couldn’t have been any faster, but those animals are so insanely fast. I had to go to therapy for that shit.

It’d be a shame if these fake animals were made out of solid sharp materials… Just sayin’

roofuskit,

Concrete would be better. Inertia is a bitch.

Ma che americani!

Aren’t SUVs and trucks the majority of vehicles on the road the begin with in North America

rivoluzioneurbanamobilita,
@rivoluzioneurbanamobilita@mastodon.uno avatar

@candle_lighter far as I know they are the majority of vehicles sold in USA, but I don't know about the number of circulating ones. For sure it is much lower than 98%

But keep in mind:

  • This is not a scientific experiment, it is just a guy collecting data on one road one day (for fun)
  • It was 10 years ago more or less, so the situation was a little bit different

It’s saying most of those who don’t care about animals on the road drive SUVs, not that most SUV drivers don’t care about animals.

But if the majority of people on the road are SUV drivers wouldn’t it only make sense that the majority of drivers who don’t care about animals are also SUV drivers

@7of9@startrek.website avatar

Ah, I get you … yes that’s a fair point. In Europe we don’t have so many SUVs

BurningRiver,

Europe has so many awesome wagons, and we get almost none of them. People here would rather drive lifted hatchbacks that handle like shit, rather than a cool wagon.

7of9,
@7of9@startrek.website avatar

Erm, I guess this is one of those cases where words don’t translate well between variants of English … I hardly ever see “station wagons” (estate cars?) here, whereas there’s lots of cool lifted hatchbacks around like the Fiat Panda 4x4

slaacaa,

Interesting video, but also 11 years old. Would be curious to see how it is now
