TheHobbyist, (edited ) in CLI monitoring with GPU overview

I don’t know what GPU you have, whether it is AMD, Nvidia or Intel, but if you use Nvidia, the standard tool is nvidia-smi (if you install the proprietary drivers from here with the optional cuda package, you can access the command) . You will need to combine it with the watch tool for real time info.

Otherwise, the one I prefer is nvitop.

I’ve seen Intel specific tools too, but don’t recall them. And I’m not familiar with AMD tools.

jlow,

Oh, nvitop looks really nice, thanks! So far the only thing that seems to correctly read my GPUs data is a fork of the KDE system monitor widget 🤷‍♀️

governorkeagan,

I’ve been using nvtop but I’ll have a look at nvitop as well. Thank you!

muhyb, in CLI monitoring with GPU overview

I don’t know if there is a unified tool for that but I use btop and nvtop side by side. I don’t really care but if there is one, I’d like to know as well.

governorkeagan, (edited )

I’ve been using nvtop as well

ShittyBeatlesFCPres, in Fedora 39 Released with GNOME 45, Linux 6.5 + More

I’m pretty sure Fedora Core 4 was my first Linux daily driver. I love distro hopping but I always end up back on Fedora when I have a big project to work on and I just want vanilla Gnome, my developer tools, and no surprises.

pop_os! Runs great on the amd apus. For reference i used a ryzen 3 3200g and it ran indie games very well.

I guess you mean a ryzen 7 4700g? Should be great too considering mine was a generation behind.

airman, in Best Linux distro for gaming on a crappy integrated graphics old PC?

I hope am not too late for this. If you’re looking for a consolized PC experience with Steam and all of its quality of life features, check out ChimeraOS.

It is based on SteamOS3 and adds a lot of extra features such as GOG and EGS integrations and built in emulators.

It also has a desktop mode for a full featured Linux experience. Keep in mind it’s an immutable distro.

Also, it uses Arch btw. Sorry just wanted to say it for such a long time now 🤣

FriendBesto, in Linux holds more than 8% market share in India, and it's on the upward trend

That is impressive since the world share for Linux is something below 4%. So the uptake is over double of that of the rest of the world.

Makes sense, when I check new distro/apps videos on YT, something like 70% of them are made by Indian people.

What Bluetooth controllers are you using? Is the Linux/Windows machine the same machine?

Not all bluetooth cheaps are equal. My phone will do Bluetooth all the way at the end of my back yard, but my desktop’s Bluetooth doesn’t even reliably reach the next room over.

I doubt it’s the headset, unless it’s defective and you need a replacement, those are pretty well regarded. I have a cheaper model and it’s been a flawless experience for years.

cyberwolfie,

Tested with four different machines, one running Linux, two using Windows 10 and one with macOS. Seems to be a codec issue where Linux and Windows defaulted to SBC and macOS to AAC (where it did not occur). Changing to LDAC on Linux helped, although I am certain I had issues with this before with that codec. On Win10 I have no wiggle room as it is my work machine, and I seem to need third party software installed to change.

failed to install Debian Woody and SUSE in early naughts – finally succeeded with a Stage 1 Gentoo install (yay for me?) – a long sabbatical from Linux, back into the groove with Pop!_OS for a while, and recently replaced with Debian stable (successfully this time ;p ) – getting old enough that “bleeding edge” doesn’t hold any appeal any more, “boring” is far more interesting

lemmyvore,

Debian stable with some stuff installed in containers and some as flatpak is a sleeper. It may just be the best most Rick solid combination out there.

aport, in Firefox Development Is Moving From Mercurial To Git

I’m amazed people are still using Mercurial. I worked on a few hg projects about a decade ago and it wasn’t a very good experience. It was easy for people who used subversion, but if you were even halfway familiar with git you just missed a lot of functionality.

aport, in Fedora 39 Released with GNOME 45, Linux 6.5 + More

Fittingly, Fedora 39 arrives 20 years and 1 day after Fedora Core 1 was released November 6, 2003.

Time really sneaks up on you doesn’t it
