_cnt0,

The fat little happy penguin never resonated with me. And I think it poorly reflects the community. Hence, I’m in favor of a new mascot: tox. https://sh.itjust.works/pictrs/image/980762ff-d7e6-41f9-acc8-edb34772a194.png

Of course, you can put arbitrary distro logos on it.

jack,

Tox sounds toxic

_cnt0,

Yes.

cyanarchy,

I do appreciate the self awareness of Tox being an unbridled agent of chaos, gives me big goose vibes.

rottingleaf,

Migrate to Slackware from Void on my laptop probably. I miss it.

aggelalex,

I just bought a raspberry pi 5 and I’ll be SSHing hard this year

Ooops,

I'm still waiting for more distributions to include it to replace my old 3A+ home server.

bort,

At work, a partner plans on migrating a prod server from windows to linux next year.

This will give me the opportunity to lobby for migrating some of our servers as well.

Still distro hopping, will explore the world of Fedora.

I wanna ditch the unFFOS and be in control of all of my os, not just where the big companies that make it want me to be in control. I pay quite a few fees to live commercial free, and now they are using my login splashscreen to offload Xbox game pass… Also, how about some banners about office365 in your start menu? I paid for this os, you bunch of potatopeels! I Tried Ubuntu back in the day, around 10 years ago and it was fine (except for gaming), but I hear everyone here is pretty stoked about Mint for starters, so I’ll start there.

Also recently bought Ableton Live because LMMS is not capable enough. You win some you lose some

RobotZap10000,

Once (or if) Valve adds Linux Steam Link support for the Oculus Quest 3, I’ll be VR gaming on Linux!

riodoro1,

No wonder he’s sad since its snowing inside.

QuazarOmega,

He forgot to build the roof dependency

  • MigratingtoLemmy,

OK WTF I need this machine now I didn’t realise a Dell workstation was granted support. Link please?

    MTK,

My work supports Linux which is great but they only really support Gnome which I hate.

My plans are to decide between Ubuntu or SUSE with Hyperland (cool but I’ll have to support myself, which is fine but annoying)

Been using XFCE on Linux for somewhere around 20 years. In the new year I wish to try switching fulltime to a wm & maybe even wayland…

    prime_number_314159,

This year I made the switch on my gaming PC (Windows to Arch). Next year, my target is replacing my CNC controller system, probably using raspbian on a raspberry model 3. That will bring the Windows count down to 1, which is about as low as my household can go.

    jawa21,

LinuxCNC is rock solid. I am a career machinist of 20 years and have used it to run work horse production machines without fault for years. Setting it up can be a nightmare, though. The fact that the distro is Debian based makes the reliability amazing, even after power outages etc. Just make sure you have a dedicated GPU or weirdness can happen.

    MigratingtoLemmy,

Install a non-systemd distribution on an old thinkpad. I’m sure I can make him the happiest compared to the rest of you miserable plebs \s

    shiroininja,

I plan to continue development of native Linux apps and learning proper app packaging

    xarexyouxmadx,

My answer is boring. Almost nothing. I feel like I finally have things dialed in. Except maybe my desktop experience. But beyond that the most i see myself doing is making some upgrades to my PC like a larger nvme drive since i edit with resolve on a 500GB nvme & if you’ve worked with clips in resolve on Linux you know how huge the files can be. One project can be 50 GBs.
