tillimarleen,

As someone else mentioned, use this shortcut that uses ashell and yt-dlp. It‘s pretty neat: routinehub.co/shortcut/7284/

lemmyvore,
JackGreenEarth,

Thanks. I suppose I would prefer if it was an app, but I know there are huge obstacles to get non-monetised apps onto the app store (such as owning an apple computer and paying apple £100 a year)

Yt dlp shortcut with a-shell was my set up before I moved to android. Just share the link, select the format and quality.

If you have any pc or terminal capable device: Invest time into yt-dlp.
Mobile ain’t worth the trouble

odium,

Android is terminal capable despite being mobile. Try termux for example.

termux can’t run yt-dlp though…
My point was an x86 ccapable device because that’s what yt-dlp is compiled it.
I don’t know if you can run yt-dlp compiled for ARM even in termux.

Irevirt,

You can just install it through python

<span style="color:#323232;">pkg up
</span><span style="color:#323232;">pkg install python
</span><span style="color:#323232;">pkg install ffmpeg
</span><span style="color:#323232;">python3 -m pip install --upgrade yt-dlp
</span>

See what I know.
In that case @OP: Do it that way. (If you can find a way to run a terminal app like termux on iOS.)
