Whats most privacy respecting android app for Lemmy ?
Jonnsy, I use Eternity it’s foss and a fork of infinity for reddit
theDutchBrother, I feel like I’m on Infinity but was transported to a better version of Reddit.
jack, Just don’t use anything proprietary like Sync or Connect
root, I use Connect for lemmy. Doesn’t ask for any permissions.
psychhim, @root @TrippingBalls Connect for lemmy: is it avaiable for android ?
root,
backhdlp, This is all opinions here, so I’m just saying that Sync is the only one I know that’s closed source.

kylian0087, Lets up that one and add tor.
EmoBean, On a burner, that I got a homeless guy to buy, in Portugal, which I illegally entered, from Spain, which I also illegally entered.
Finally. I can look at cats and femboys.
kylian0087, 😂😂 good one
MigratingtoLemmy, Liftoff
Kissaki, (edited ) You could use the website in a webbrowser. Then you don’t have to be concerned about app and app provider.
It’s what I’m using. On mobile too.
psychhim, @Kissaki @TrippingBalls But are there any working?
Kissaki, Any working what?
I’m using the website of my instance. Lemmy instances typically have their own website you can use - which is exactly or slightly modified versions of the interface of the Lemmy project.
If you trust your instance with your account and its associated data surely you trust it’s website.
psychhim, @Kissaki I want to know if there is any app (client) which works. Because I have tried some from F-droid and they show login error.
LWD, You cannot log in to a Lemmy server from an account hosted on Mastodon. You need to make a Lemmy account to do that.
Otherwise, you can follow Lemmy accounts and rooms from Mastodon, but it will be very janky.
Edit: down voters care to explain why I’m wrong?
TheAnonymouseJoker, Every FOSS app and browser website
lowmane, Liftoff is pretty decent
jajak98082, app
God i hate zoomers
ShustOne, What’s wrong with that word?
jajak98082, Zoomers are brainwashed to use an app for every single thing. They have probably never used a web browser.
ShustOne, But here they are specifically asking for an Android app? How is that not correct?
jajak98082, He can just use lemmy in the browser.
Albinjose7345, Eternity
zingo, Yes, the Infinity for Reddit fork.
The cool thing is that I just imported my settings from IFR to Eternity flawlessly.
random65837, Do you find its sometimes hard as hell to follow replies? I never remember having that issue with Infinity, yet seem to have it all the time with Eternity.
auf, (edited ) I’m a Voyager user since when it was wefwef.
I heard about
boost
and it looks promising. It even has a dedicated community on lemmy.
AkaBobHoward, I was a boost user for reddit, and when it finalized for Lemmy I had to “launch the rocket” 🚀 (get it again) I loved it over there and it is getting awesome here, as for privacy, I honestly don’t know, and I know that is probably the worst thing I could say here. I was so angry with reddit about the greed and all it just felt right to keep supporting boost. I am rather noob to the privacy concerns and I am learning.
TropicalDingdong, it seems like if you are interested in private, Lemmy isn’t really a great place?
It strikes me that the lemiverse is basically self doxximg with no ability to get rid of the data. I mean I don’t really know what gwts logged but it seems like it’s never gone via federation.
joeldebruijn, There is a big difference between posting in public non confidential stuff and an app tracking all your clicks and likes and device contacts and telemetry
I supposed the topic starter meant the last one
1984, (edited ) Sync is the absolute best app but I think privacy is probably not great.
But this is Lemmy so you don’t even need to use an email address if you don’t want. You can be semi anonymous and change username often if you want, and change between apps or instances also.
Data is never gone but it’s also not tied to anything real about you.
Matt, I would stick with one of the open source apps. Thunder is my favorite, but Voyager and Eternity are good as well.
wreckedcarzz, I’ve only used Thunder, but it’s been just fine and I haven’t felt like I need to see what else is out there. I guess it could be more responsive with reply notifications and such but that’s pretty minor.
krolden, What lemmy apps aren’t open source?
noodlejetski, (edited ) Sync, Boost, Connect and Summit, to name a few.
