Work profile, or a PWA I think would be the best way to

U2VuZCBudWRlcyA6KSAK,

What good will a work profile do me? As mentioned in the other reply, what privacy gain am I really looking at in return for the tradeoff?

CCatMan,

Limits data access, right?

ekky43, (edited )

You tell us.

Using PWA you’ll retain all the features and nice-to-haves of the app, while also preventing it from doing any weird magic to your files in the background. Sharing files from your main profile to your private profile is also as easy as opening the file in your main profiles file browser and clicking “share”.

What is your threat/privacy level? How far are you willing to go, and what/how much is it that you want to keep private?

I’m clearly too tired to make any sense. Please have a nice evening.

You should really question why you need this to begin with…but you can look at f-droid.org/packages/us.spotco.malwarescanner/

  • AdventuringAardvark,

I’m using the stable version of Brave. Not nightly or Beta.

OrekiWoof, in It seems Gen Z is just fine with parents knowing where they are all the time

I see the opposite. There’s a lot of people that don’t even tell their parents where they live, or that they have a partner etc.

    frunch,

Wow, that seems particularly odd to me. People don’t want their parents to know where they live? Sounds like they had a rough childhood more than a penchant for extreme privacy, but wtf do i know ¯_(ツ)_/¯

    cheese_greater,

Lotta messed up famillies and its easier than ever to find online info on how to deal with narcissistic/dysfunctional family dynamics and get away from it.

    catsup, in Thoughts on shizuku?

Something you may have not noticed about AppOps is that you can use it to give fake permissions to the apps so they think that they have a permission but when they try to actually use that permission they don’t get any data from the API.

I personally think that the added attack-surface is worth it for the functionality it provides.

    How about using dnscrypt-proxy?

You got randomized dns servers and you can use your own blocklists

GRC has a tool to benchmark a large list of public DNS servers and tell you the performance.

But I would expect Quad9 to be pretty decent.

Wtf are they talking about? Every version works great, haven’t encountered bugs or problems in years besides some caused by extensions.

TWeaK, in Is this a good network setup?

    Sounds decent.

Most routers can have VLAN functionality if you flash them with custom firmware. You get allllll the settings then. I have a netgear router that now has an FTP server and a bunch of other stuff. All you have to do is make sure the model you buy has a chipset supported by the firmware. Firmwares include:

    • DD-WRT
    • Tomato
    • AdvancedTomato
    • OpenWRT
    • Chilifire
    • Gargoyle

I’m sure someone will come in and say that using a consumer grade router is naff, but in my (somewhat limited) experience working with managed switches in an industrial setting, a custom consumer router is much more feature-rich. Unless you need the IO of a managed switch (ie SFPs) I see no reason to go down that route.

If you are using SFPs, be sure to get the knock off ones that can be programmed - there should be places that sell them and program them at no extra cost. They can literally be 1/10 of the cost of the manufacturer’s own modules.
