My husband absolutely adored these because they were wholesome with no gratuitous sex or violence. He was a conservative Christian and these were some of the few shows he could really enjoy unreservedly. (I doubt he would have been pleased to see a gay story, though. He’s not around to ask, unfortunately.)
I find them predictable and banal. But to each his own. He would watch a Hallmark movie in one room and I’d be in the other room watching Criminal Minds or something LOL
Only analog I can think of in our world would be aircraft carriers or battleships, which are commonly referred to as floating cities, yet they don’t have children or spouses living on board.
From what I’ve heard, one of the darker secrets though is tbat there is sex and sometimes childbirth that goes on.
Not something the Navy usually likes to talk about.
I tell my clients it comes from prison as a sign you were looking for sex.
Close and possibly true for some, but apparently it was more just that they weren’t allowed to have belts to hold up their pants. When people got released, they continued to wear them loose because they were comfortable. The trend then spread to hip hop and other cultures in the 90s.
Not liking the new Marvel movie is fine. Making it about race or sex is what makes you a racist for not liking the new Marvel movie. This thread apparently thinks those people don’t exist lol
It’s a bit off-side, but another sad part of this quote is that it actually sounds reasonable in the original context:
I’m selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.
Marilyn Monroe went out of her way to list what she considered her “worst”, that is in direct contradiction with the “best” (that everyone could see) from her public persona. She’s saying “Here’s my worst; you know my best. If you don’t accept me for who I am, you don’t deserve that sex symbol that I built”.
It’s a fair cry from how people often use this quote, where they justify making your life a living Hell under the promise of some “best” that you’re never going to see.
I thought it was ok, I was hoping for more action from a movie about one of the greatest generals but it glossed over that to highlight his weird sex and marriage.
I have to disagree here. Everyone is not the same and many people are not comfortable watching porns with other people, or even alone by themselves (e.g. abuse victims, etc). My point is there should be an option to avoid watching those scenes, which is increasingly not the case here because new shows includes them as if there is a “has borderline porn sex scenes” checkbox that must be ticked off in Netflix production department before new shows got greenlighted. Trying to not watching shows with those scenes means not watching most recently produced shows at all.
It’s impossible to avoid every possible trauma trigger when making a movie. The fact that some people might seriously be unable to watch sex scenes shouldn’t mean we cannot make them at all. If sex is an absolute red flag for you in movies, watch PG-13.
Other example: My mom doesn’t like violence in movies. (Doesn’t mind sex scenes btw.) And that just means she can’t (and doesn’t want to) watch most recently produced shows. And that’s just how it is.
Obviously there’s a market for movies with sex scenes in them, or Hollywood wouldn’t make them. You will just have to live with the fact that your in the minority here.
When a person sees abortion as murder, the view of abortion laws is the same as those of murder. If you say “making murder illegal doesn’t reduce the number of murders” anyone with any sort of a moral center will say “I don’t care, murder should still be illegal.” And that’s the perspective will not be changed no matter what the murder rates are. That’s how the argument gets reduced to “Why have laws?” To them, it’s basically saying “It doesn’t help enough, so why even draw that line at all?”
That said, let’s look at your proven fact for a moment. I don’t believe the data will help, because when you narrow the focus to the US, and look at reaction to legal changes, you see a very clear drastic rise in abortions in the 70’s, which didn’t begin to fall until the 90’s, and it fell at a much slower rate, and is still higher than it was in the 70s. ( source )
Which makes logical sense, if you increase access to the service, of course more people will be able to use it. At the same time, since Roe vs. Wade was repealed, there have already been multiple news stories showing that the strict abortion laws did prevent some (often medically necessary life-saving) abortions.
You may say these numbers aren’t statistically significant, but to a person who sees abortion as murder, preventing even one is better than not preventing it.
Anyway, all of this misses the major point of the abortion rights side to begin with. Which is that sometimes abortions are medically necessary and that should be between you and your doctor to decide when that is.
I want to say that the most effective argument is to show just how drastically the abortion rates fell in the areas where they increased access to birth control and sex education. However, when I showed my mother, she responded with a Youtube video that tells me how Planned Parenthood eats babies.
Sorry bb. Do we have to stop at kissing? I’m an enthusiastic consent kinda person so I don’t wanna come on too strong with the expectation of make-up sex.
Edit wait: you’re an adult right? God please be an adult
They should improve the quality of food in sewers so that those who bought sex and thus reincarnated as rats and cockroaches can get a second chance in their next lives

As far as I know, it’s just some sex hotline I found online. Nothing on the website said it’s for Gay people. So I guess you just tried to insult me with “gay” by asking if it’s my Gay agency. xD Do you actually think that “gay” is an insult? Jokes on you, I’m Bisexual. So I’m half gay, now what? xD Insulting someone with “gay” in 2023. Man, you are really fucking cringe. Try to get some actual insults. 4th graders insult better than you, maybe ask them.
In his two dialogues that deal directly with love, he excludes sexual relations either implicitly or explicitly. In “Sympsium” love (eros) allows you to reach an understanding of the form of the ‘Beautiful’, and love creates goodness, and people can only ‘give birth’ (besides physically, also mentally by creating things) in goodness, so that’s why they seek it, to create and achieve some immortality through their creations.
In “Phaedrus” he explicitly tells how one of the three parts of the soul (mind) is a wild horse that pulls the soul in lust, and reason (the charioteer) then proceeds to pull back with all its might as the emotional part of the soul goes towards sex, as love is there to remind the soul of beauty, which is the souls nourishment, not to “mount [others] like an animal”. That’s basically the tl;dr of his writings on love in those two dialogoues.

Im not really a political person but the one thing I do care about is pot. Which candidate is most supportive of federally legalizing or at least bumping down the schedule 4 drug status of pot.
Technically Biden, but ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh. He isn’t pro-legalisation but is the most likely route. As the cannabis industry gains more money and momentum it’s really just a matter of time, but there are Republicans actively fighting against it. So, do with that, what you will. Also don’t be fooled by libertarians, they will try to draw you in with pot and legal sex work, but that’s a trap.
I've heard that the birds don't sing songs to us but rather either tempt mates for reproduction or warn other same-sex birds to come too close or else!
