thank you very much!! I love this distribution, it’s the most customisable ever n.n

01adrianrdgz,
@01adrianrdgz@lemmy.world avatar

but other distributions are complex to install and besides, Ubuntu works out of the box on my laptop!! But thank you so much, I once tried KDE but Plasma felt very hard to understand.

why do some people heavily dislike Snaps?? I don’t see them when I install software, and it doesn’t make Ubuntu slow.

01adrianrdgz,
@01adrianrdgz@lemmy.world avatar

I regret that!! I prefer to give it my own theme, what matters is customisation, but it’s ok if you want to do the challenge!!

01adrianrdgz,
@01adrianrdgz@lemmy.world avatar

yes, thank you!! I can customise it as much as I’d like using GNOME Tweaks + preinstalled themes, like in Xfce, thank you!!

100% vanilla distribution challenge

what does this consist of? Well, it’s easy, whenever you install a new distribution of Linux, don’t customise anything, nothing please!! Out of the box experience, you may install software but that’s all. And if you are already using a customised distro, then delete the .config file and reboot, but please be careful and...

@01adrianrdgz@lemmy.world avatar

ok >w< I understand that and you are free to customise that a lot if you want to, it’s ok!! But I personally want to keep the brand and colors of the vanilla distro!!! It’s a cuter and more honest experience c:

01adrianrdgz,
@01adrianrdgz@lemmy.world avatar

all of that is yes!! You can change to dark mode only, you can set up resolution, what matters is keeping the distro brand wallpaper, colors, etc, intact!! It’s to keep it simple.

01adrianrdgz,
@01adrianrdgz@lemmy.world avatar

I enjoy Linux so much that I think vanilla distros are a good experience, for example the main theme of Linux Mint is green, I wouldn’t feel ok with changing the color!! Or for example, Ubuntu is orange, well I will use the OS with orange colors.

should my next browser installed be Microsoft Edge?? (lemmy.world)

I have installed the big 2 browsers on my Ubuntu!! I love them!! I use Google Chrome more of course n.n but I was wondering if I should get Edge now, I like the cute design + AI integration, but I don’t think it’s necessary because I already have Chromium, which is just the baseline for Edge, but still it could be a nice...

ok thank you so much!! Yes I understand it’s a matter of personal preference and that’s ok. I remember when I used to configure a lot of settings on Firefox to avoid being harmed by other people :c but anyway, I like Edge, but well I can’t install Edge on a Chromebook so I need to get used to Chrome, I could install Firefox on Chromebook since both Google and Firefox are friends n.n

I don’t like Brave a lot, but it’s ok if other people use it, I don’t like the way it integrates cryptocurrency too :c I prefer physical money!!! Also I dislike homophobia, if the creator is homophobic, then please change u.u

how can I change Ubuntu to have default settings (everything, apps, icon size, color, etc) without losing any other software or files??

I recently became interested in using operating systems or software in the most vanilla way possible!! Without changing anything, just getting new files and other stuff. I’ve changed a lot of things from Ubuntu (for example uninstalling Rhythmbox and getting VLC) and I honestly want all the Ubuntu GNOME vanilla software back,...

01adrianrdgz,
@01adrianrdgz@lemmy.world avatar

that worked :3 thank you very much, I will not touch anything now. (Except installing new apps)

01adrianrdgz,

I love KDE a lot but if I’m honest, I dislike that they posted that… That wasn’t kind of them and it was rude to Microsoft!!! I wouldn’t insult them (“ditch Windows for good”), well, Microsoft has been using and including Linux too!! So both should be fine and friends.

would it be illegal to download Ubuntu on a Chromebook?

what if I, for example, had a job in Google and I liked Linux so much I install Ubuntu on my Chromebook, would that be illegal/send me to prison?? Or, if I had the job, would I be kicked?? I like Chromebooks because they are so smol and nice. But I don’t know if it’s legal to install a Linux distro on it. Thank you!!

01adrianrdgz,
@01adrianrdgz@lemmy.world avatar

I know ChromeOS is Linux but I want Ubuntu, but if I’m honest, I would be ok with only using ChromeOS!!

01adrianrdgz,
@01adrianrdgz@lemmy.world avatar

breaking the DRM content and breaking the boot, which is illegal in my country :c

01adrianrdgz,
@01adrianrdgz@lemmy.world avatar

why would I be a troll? I’m sorry, but I’m just saving money for a Chromebook, they are cheap and nice and I can use them for Python!!

01adrianrdgz,
@01adrianrdgz@lemmy.world avatar

ok thank you, I have been visiting Tkinter forums and guides and also how to download Flatpak, and that has been so nice. I’m very sorry for asking a lot but I want to be part of the community!!! n.n And by the way I’m not young, I’m 20 so I have lived a life c:

can I be a Free Software advocate but still use non-free software??

I’m asking this because one time, while browsing the GNU website, I noticed that some of the members’ emails had “gmail” on them!! And I asked myself how would that be possible?? And I think other members of the FSF had Gmail too. Why? Richard Stallman is against Gmail, so why would those memberse use it?? Would that...

thank you, you’re right, I love open source, I will contribute to it. And by the way, this is an extreme opinion, but Discord is an open source hybrid!! It’s mostly open source but it’s got proprietary blobs.
