I’m in the market for a Linux friendly ultralight laptop to check web apps and run terminal, nothing fancier then that. Do any cheap systems exits these days? I was looking at a chrome book but apparently the mediatek chip doesn’t play nicely with FOSS....

One of my biggest pet peeves with Linux by far. Usually my use of Linux is generally just parsec and that’s it. But I can’t ever select the right driver, and then I forget, idk it’s a whole thing and I just wish it was baked in and easy, but then again it is linux
2024 is the Year of Linux on the Desktop, at least for my boyfriend. He’s running Windows 7 right now, so I’ll be switching him to Ubuntu in a few days. Ubuntu was chosen because Proton is officially supported in Ubuntu.
PREACH, after using infinity for reddit for years this is the only app that I can ever be comfortable with. It’s genuinely amazing, thank you to the person who ported it.
And the amount of people that will do ANYTHING to defend Linux baffles me, and they all do it thinking they help Linux in general instead of highlighting their issues so they can be fixed
