Dreams are what happens if your brain is able to hallucinate without any feed back from reality.

In reality your phone works because there is a living board and software keeping the interaction confined to it’s inner possibilities. Your brain doesn’t have ways to allow for this internal logic and therefore interactions with software never go well.

Notice that is only slightly better in simulating other people. Faces are never consistent, but generally people logic is easier to stimulate, so other people are more convincing.

That’s because the idea of the middle ages attend from the imagination of people in the nineteenth century. This is when people started theorizing about history.

Cities in the nineteenth century were absolutely filthy, because of industrialization and were busting at the seams.

Now they learned about this ‘dark ages’ when people were backwards and uneducated. For sure conditions were worse and more filthy collar to our current enlightened society, no?

Serious question ignoring the obvious joke:

I know donkeys and mules were used for transport, but with the advent of motorized transport that role is no longer needed.

What work there left for a donkey on a modern farm?

Yeah litigation is no joke. It’s wonderous to see the lengths people go to to get one up over somebody else. I think it has to do with the lack of social security or something.

I was thirteen, visiting Ireland with my parents. We were staying in a hostel somewhere in the area of the cliffs of Moher.

My parents went out for a drink in the pub and met another Dutch couple. They were staying at the same hostel. At breakfast they joined our table and my parents introduced me.

Now I do have a very uncommon first name (the only way I’m part of the 1%). This guy says 'i once met a bit by that name before, it was in Croatia, some ten years ago.

Turns out that was me. The guy had helped dive up one of my swimming shoes that had sank to the bottom of the bay, an act of heroism for the very young me.

So we met this bloke twice, in two very different parts of Europe. The bizarre thing though: if I had a slightly more common name we might never even have known.

Honestly - How much will you sacrifice for a better world?

Confronted with the likelihood that we cannot achieve climate goals, confront socioeconomic inequality, and ultimately build a better world without significant personal sacrifice: How much are you personally capable and willing to lose? I mean this in the most earnest way possible. Acknowledging the likely possibility of working...

No, I’m not a hardcore no child person. Just didn’t happen to find someone to have them with, and when I found someone, turns out we can’t.

I do think more people should try out the dinky lifestyle, for a variety of reasons, but I’m not proselytizing.

I don’t have kids. Both a personal sacrifice and a way to massively minimize my carbon footprint.

And I don’t even get to claim that I want a better climate for my offspring.

I do get to shamelessly do everything I want to do in my lifetime, though. Can recommend.
