The US election season is way too fucking long. I love hearing about the losses he’s taking but the bullshit he spews still gets out there. No need for that. I miss the time shortly after Biden got in where I didn’t hear about Trump every day. Didn’t even hear about what Biden was doing! It was a mental health treat!

And Musk… just seems like I don’t really need to know what that guy is up to every day.

Haven’t seen Summoning Salt mentioned yet. He does great videos on the history of speed running a video game.

An example video would be Super Mario Bros: The Human Limit where the difference between a tool assisted speed run and what a human is capable is discussed. And how Super Mario Bros has an interesting mechanic allowing humans to be imperfect but still able to tie a perfectly executed speed run done using essentially a script of commands.

I’ll go first. Mine is that I can’t stand the Deadpool movies. They are self aware and self referential to an obnoxious degree. It’s like being continually reminded that I am in a movie. I swear the success of that movie has directly lead to every blockbuster having to have a joke every 30 seconds

As someone who enjoys the magic systems of Brandon Sanderson, I do piss on Star Wars for not having a logical basis for The Force.

Actually it’s not that bad. Harry Potter is much worse.

You mean with the skip drives? Which books I the series have you read. There’s something about them that isn’t talked about until I think book 2. Definitely in 5.

I’m struggling to think of what part of the book you’re thinking of.

I’m on book 5 and 15 years have passed since the events of the first book. One of the characters says he’s 90, and they leave Earth when they’re 75. There’s no hundreds of years passing for anyone. The FTL travel is explained in a way without time dilation, but does have other side effects.

I’m being intentionally vague as Old Man’s War is one of my favourite book series and I enjoyed the reveal of the early plot points.

Nope, totally different book series. In Old Man’s War, 75 year olds from earth are recruited to fight aliens in space. How the military makes use of old farts is the first plot point.
