Can cast fairly well from the phone app or even the browser. Chrome cast is funky though.

I sure hope the courts toss that thing. It would be the single worst violation of peoples privacy since the internet became a thing. It's incredible that lobbyists and police unions have this much impact on policy creation.

He says it makes no sense to do it, because not only are you basically using twice the energy to get it back down, often using energy made from fossil fuels to begin with, you then also have to tackle storage and that's nearly impossible at the scale we need to take it out of the atmosphere. Any use case, such as green houses and whatnot don't help, because they put the CO2 straight back into the atmosphere with a bit of a delay, same with trees.

Which makes it a futile exercise. It's basically gold plated HDMI cables. Sure it works, but it makes no sense whatsoever, because it doesn't do what it claims to do.

Thing is, the tree is mostly carbon at the end of it's lifespan. So then what? You merely delayed the problem at that point.

Even if you don't decompose the material or burn it, you will have the carbon released back eventually.

Took ne a few tries to figure that out. And what is a microblog even and why do we have it?

With you on that one. Some small youtuber I have followed for years setup over on lemmy.world. I know it exists, but searching on kbin, no matter what I try, doesn't yield it to me. Unless it hits the frontpage or I am accidentally looking at the new feed the same moment the guy posts there, I won't really have a way to subscribe. Also don't really want to wrangle multiple accounts.

Does anyone else hope the bulk of Reddit stays there?

I think my favorite thing about Lemmy is that it feels like Reddit used to. Less negativity, more engaged users (I think). I know it will be fun to watch Reddit die, but if I put spite aside what I’m really mad at Reddit about is more about what Reddit became and maybe part of that is when the general internet user started...

Exactly, well put. This is what reddit used to be, I hope this place can and will grow into just that in time. I see the potential. Everything starts with very little.
