Yes, I had to think about it for a minute before I even came up with “Tim Rothfuss”. He used to be a household name, and then he just stopped writing. Idk what his deal is, but he did say once that he’s envious of Sanderson’s writing speed. I guess it takes him a long time to write a book, and it seems like he either got burned out, or ran out of ideas. I felt like he took some ideas from Jordan in the 2nd Kingkiller book. I met him once, walking around on the floor at Emerald City Comic Con. He seems like a cool guy. He spent like an hour talking to my sister at his booth after I ran into him. It’s a shame that I think you’re right. It doesn’t look like he’ll ever finish that trilogy.

I think the high price of housing will eventually prevent most individuals from buying a rental property, and like every other industry, the immensely wealthy corporations will take over. My last landlord paid $800 per month for her mortgage on the place. If someone wanted to buy a comparative property to rent out today, their mortgage would be closer to $5400 per month. There aren’t a lot of people who could commit to that. The ladders are being pulled up.
Exactly. I just had this argument with a couple of friends who were raised rich white kids, in the rich white neighborhood. They were criticizing me for appropriating black vernacular, and wouldn’t believe me that my entire neighborhood and school spoke that way. It’s inter-urban (poor) slang, not specifically black. Most of my neighborhood was Mexican, yet they all used these terms. Granted, they have different inflections on the words, but the vocabulary is pretty much the same. Anyways, now I have friends accusing me of racism for speaking the way I’ve spoken my entire life. I just hadn’t loosened up enough to speak that way around them before. Ain’t identity politics grand?
I’m Gen X. It’s amazing when I go back and watch shows and movies from my childhood that had a token fat character in them, because that character looks like an average person today. Look at Chunk from the Goonies. He was considered fat enough to have a nickname like Chunk, but he looks like the majority of kids I see now.
My friend and I stumbled across a pot farm once while riding dual sports on fire roads up in those mountains. This was back when marijuana was still illegal. We got the fuck out of there as quickly as we could.
