That's only because she refused to tell him that she loved him.

Bonehead, to lemmyshitpost in And this is why I no longer have cable.

That's absolutely not true. I've learned that I may be messy sometimes, but at least I'm not walking through goat paths of garbage. I've learned that I may be a bit of a fuck up that enjoys recreational drugs, but at least I'm not walking on sunshine. And I've learned that I may be bit overweight, but at least I'm not bed-ridden and disappointing my doctor. I always feel better about myself after watching a TLC show.

I actually work for Canada Post. We've heard rumblings of the pre-sequenced mail coming our way, and some people have lost large chunks of money from it. Contract negotiations are coming up though, so we'll see how things go. Though it is nice having a union that is willing to fight the company for the workers...I've never had that before this job.

The person on the other side isn’t guaranteed to be the same person when rematerialized. There’s the ontological argument that when you’re dematerialized, you die as your physical form is eliminated and that the person appearing on the other side is merely a clone of you, but not you.

That's just all a bunch of metaphysical nonsense...

Bonehead, to memes in What a silly thought, am I right?

Imagine having to bang your instrument everytime you wanted to play music.

Yes, but again even by your own admission, it has uses other than just currency.

Bonehead, to risa in Trek Club

The point is that we understand the actual paper has no value itself. It's the commitment of the government backing it that has the value.

Bonehead, to risa in Trek Club

That paper is at least backed by the GDP of my country.

It was shiny, easily workable, and didn't turn your skin green. As a jewelry metal, it was much more valuable than as a currency. It had uses other than just money...

Gold is used in a variety of applications. You're likely holding a device filled with gold right now. Even before the computer revolution, is was still used in medical applications. There are tons of uses for gold that don't involve currency.
