What is Something Scientific that you just don't believe in at all?

EDIT: Let’s cool it with the downvotes, dudes. We’re not out to cut funding to your black hole detection chamber or revoke the degrees of chiropractors just because a couple of us don’t believe in it, okay? Chill out, participate with the prompt and continue with having a nice day. I’m sure almost everybody has something...

ChexMax,

Plus the idea that SSRIs work, period. They only work slightly better than placebo, and they count them as “working” as long as they help with a single symptom. So if they don’t help your depression at all, but they do help with your insomnia, they put that in the “it worked!” pile. That’s why suicide risk sometimes increases on SSRIs. They do nothing for your crippling depression except increase your motivation, so before you were depressed and couldn’t accomplish anything, and now you’re depressed, but also have the wherewithal to follow through on your suicide plan.

ChexMax,

Maybe if you can avoid stuff like alcohol (easy for most) but also you can avoid sleep deprivation - way harder with little to no maternal leave and forget about paternal leave here in the US.

If you (Royal you, not parent commenter) can live with yourself if a tragedy occurs on your watch while you are flaunting medical advice, then go ahead and risk it, but otherwise yes! Buy the bedside attached crib!

ChexMax,

Not to mention how expensive it is to go to the movies! For us, this has less to do with how medium the marvel movies have been and more that a single ticket is a month of a streaming service and I already cut all our streaming services. If I decide to splurge, it’s going to be on a month of content, not two hours.

ChexMax,

I’m using connect and really like it!

ChexMax,

We’re too tired. That’s the answer. It’s not that watching TV is my hobby, it’s that I’m burnt out and don’t have the mental energy to do anything. My old hobbies feel like chores. New hobbies seem like so much work

ChexMax,

I think if you go into it knowing they’re siblings, it’s all fine and normal. The rest of us saw the commercial blind, naturally interpreted the relationship as romantic and then were surprised to learn they’re siblings and the recalibration was funny. If you have no context, and you’re trying to interpret what the relationship is, at the beginning it definitely resembles a romantic relationship more than a sibling friendship

ChexMax,

Agreed. I’m about to update to the new (to me) Google Pixel, probably the 6a. (I think they’re on the 8 now?) The battery on my current pixel is not holding up. My last two phones were pixels and probably my next couple will be as well

ChexMax,

My baby’s hiccups were visable from the outside at week 32 and before that you could feel them from the outside for a week or two. Very neat! (Not as neat while I’m trying to sleep lol)

ChexMax,

Yep. I have several times dismissed an alarm instead of snoozing it. My tired brain gets so confused. I don’t know what either word means, and I know I’m supposed to pick one of them and I end up picking dismiss, even though snooze is green and dismiss is red. I just can’t figure out what I’m supposed to do and then fall back asleep. I have slept through exams and interviews in this way :(

ChexMax,

But also, we’re not talking about dating, we’re talking about sex, and women are the definite underdogs when it comes to sex, or at least casual sex. The stats on who gets to orgasm through casual sex are just abysmal for heterosexual women… Maybe we all would benefit from sex columns for men more than we’d like to admit.

The amount of false info around, " it’s just much harder for women to orgasm" and " a lot of women simply cannot orgasm no matter what" is pretty easily disproven by orgasm rates in homosexual female couples, which leads me to believe it’s the men in the equation that lead to women having trouble orgasming, not some inevitability.

And this is all women are clear underdogs in sex before you even touch on the difference in dangers to men v women with sex /sexual violence/ coersion

ChexMax,

I never understood this. In my dreams phones, tablets, and clocks all work. Like last night I pulled up a world map and zoomed in on Europe on a tablet, and not only did my brain fill in all the countries and even major cities (totally incorrectly as I’m in the US and not that familiar with European geography), but the website even had pop up ads that I needed to close out of to view the map without distractions. I could also Google where vikings originated and pull up a totally normal appearing Wikipedia page. Tech always works just fine in my dreams

Faking Pixel 5a

I’ve read on reddit that Google still provides unlimited photos backup if you own Pixel 5a and lower. On rooted Android you can fake that and get free backup storage, but who wants to give pictures to Google?! I was thinking if it’s possible or done by someone to create an environment on Docker by faking device info to...

ChexMax,

I have a 4a and it does not have unlimited, just a heads up. My old pixel did have it, but not this one.
