Reddit was awesome.

It’s sad what became of it. Jumped ships that took me to Lemmy-kbin Land!I love games, gamification and chat roleplaying, socializing with people, volunteering, different lists and difficult topics!

I think, to truly boycott something, is to actually be invested in it. To really NOT buy or use a service or product, no matter the situation. To look for other products and services that are more moral and to start using them instead, even when the costs would be higher.

What is important to you?

You can hate the system, hate someone, a thing, product, service. Something. But it’s your choice, will you actually do differently or still just follow the path they made for you as an option to follow. And sometimes it may be the only path available.

I don’t remember did I do anything else than lurk when I initially created my account in Reddit.

I was more active before I stopped creating stuff (and shortened my time of interacting with) in Reddit, and that activity level carried in here.

However, since I think that Lemmy is a smaller place than Reddit and I really want this “seems-better” system to take off, I am trying to contribute some extra resources of mine here to help the cause! (I think Lemmy is the only social media I use)

Would probably depend on how strongly my survive instinct would kick in, and what I’d be willing to do to survive. And of course on how we as a society would deal with this big change.

A few minutes would be the minimum.

Probably 90% of my time at Lemmy has been through a PC 😂

My account is about 5 days old. I’m not home during this weekend and I don’t feel like playing games now so I’ve done what I usually don’t do on PC: done some reading on ~~Reddit ~~ Lemmy. So that’s the reason why PC on me is the biggest right now.

I have created some posts too though, and that is more pleasant on a bigger screen and a decent keyboard. But reading and commenting only with no pictures or other files to be added is OK on a smaller screen with a no-physical keyboard 😁 (not that I reply often and when I do, I don’t write that much)

And sometimes a meme doesn’t age. Sometimes, old sayings can still work wonders in new situations. Sometimes even better than what a new one would.

I don’t think old needs to be reinnovated just because it’s old. I enjoy many old things!

This is Halloween, This is Halloween…everyone hail to the pumpkin song!

Is most of the lyrics I recall of the first song that comes to my mind.

Will human societies always enshittify themselves?

It seems society always goes down the shitter over and over following the same path. People rise to wealth and power extracted on the repression of the masses, massive disparity, ignorance exemplified, xenophobia and blaming minorities for any possible issue, laws signed with golden pens but becoming more meaningless when...

I’ve heard that it’s easier to grow in power or money when you don’t consider ethical questions while rising above others (as long as you either follow laws or don’t get caught while not following them).

And since humans seem to be an animal that corrupts easily (especially when given enough power/money)…

Makes me wonder - when do I corrupt? How? And if/when I will, will I even notice it myself?

I like taking a feel of different materials and objects with a hand/fingers. It’s kind of a grown-up version for the “put it in your mouth to get a feel of it” I think?

the practice or occupation of engaging in sexual activity with someone for payment

Yeah, gotta agree that prostitution is something different, something more specific, and something not mixed in every work existing (climbing in work ranks through sexual favors is another matter).

Little counts more than none!

Make sure to grow the stakes lil’ by lil’ as the time goes by!

Should think twice before attempting to stab that “boss”

Maybe different in America, but here in Finland I’ve never been asked to pay myself so I could volunteer. And I’ve been in few different places. And I also haven’t needed to provide any kind of CV to do volunteering (nobody has asked for such information).

Sometimes I’m offered free food, free products, free fun time and even one-time payments (they pay me - which I still find strange since I haven’t gotten used to it!).

[META] Creating a new community is easy, but to get people on board, you need to create some content.

If you create a community, please try and populate it with content. I see a lot of new communities with 0-1 posts from the mod. That’s not nearly enough to get people engaged - users are going to see that it’s a ghost town and leave....

  • If I created a community, would I become it’s (lone) moderator automatically?
  • What consequences, requirements and things would I need to keep in mind as a moderator?
  • Is it advisable to copy-paste content from Reddit to kickstart new communities (given that the link source to the original content was added as well when making new posts)?
