DarkThoughts, to linux in Windows 11 vs Linux supported HW

Linux has its flaws, but so does Windows. And for me, the flaws in Windows became much more annoying than the ones in Linux. Game compatibility was the main factor that kept me backt from using it on a desktop, and that's a non issue nowadays.

DarkThoughts, to asklemmy in is there any interest in gore on this platform?

No. And I think if you have such a fetish for it you should seek professional help.

DarkThoughts, to RedditMigration in Coincidence that Reddit and Twitter are taking the same approaches to monetization?

Reddit CEO praises Elon Musk’s cost-cutting as protests rock the platform

In an interview Thursday with NBC News, Reddit CEO Steve Huffman praised Musk’s aggressive cost-cutting and layoffs at Twitter, and said he had chatted “a handful of times” with Musk on the subject of running an internet platform.

Huffman said he saw Musk’s handling of Twitter, which he purchased last year, as an example for Reddit to follow

DarkThoughts, to asklemmy in How do other Europeans survive the raining season in Asia?

Ah well, fair enough. Then I hope it will turn out to be the right one to be worth having the swamp ass.
I guess there's not really much solid advise for it. Lose some weight if you're obese, make sure to eat healthy and check if you have any sort of conditions, specifically the heart, that could affect your cardio. Of course, do what you can in regards to climate change, but I think Korea is just like that anyway, and our course on that matter is looking pretty grim anyway.

DarkThoughts, to asklemmy in How do other Europeans survive the raining season in Asia?

I don't. Why would you even move to a hot humid place without knowing how that actually is?

DarkThoughts, to asklemmy in Does anyone else struggle with silence, particularly when trying to sleep?

I've had ear ringing properly once for like 3 weeks. Never had such a hard time sleeping because the quietness just makes it all the more louder. Really drove me insane and was glad when it started to slowly recede. Good chance I would just eff myself if it were permanent.

DarkThoughts, to asklemmy in Does anyone else struggle with silence, particularly when trying to sleep?

More the opposite. I can't stand all the noise. Especially during spring & summer when you have to open your window during the night.

DarkThoughts, to RedditMigration in Reddit seems to be scrambling behind the scenes to try and limit the effects of the migration. Damage control: ChatGPT bots are spamming pro-admin, astroturfed comments

At least ChatGPT is a more polite than the toxic, racist & sexist shit that remains on Reddit. Scrolled through /r/all this morning and was appalled by some of the toxic comments in the various submissions. I also noticed some sockpuppets somehow spewing the same bullshit opinion about certain topics, using the literal same type of phrasing too, just in different comment chains and with different accounts.

Honestly, probably better for my blood pressure to stay away from most of it.

DarkThoughts, to RedditMigration in r/ZeroWaste mod talks about ongoing "plague of bots" spamming comments at an extremely high rate

I can't believe I'm actually rooting for spam bots now. Thanks, Reddit.

DarkThoughts, to AskKbin in What is Kbin’s identity?

It's a decentralized link aggregator in the design of Reddit with federation support for Lemmy & Mastodon content.
I use kbin because it's simply easier to use and more familiar for me as a Reddit user. Lemmy's layout is just confusing to me and I don't like the extremistic ideology of the admins.

DarkThoughts, to asklemmy in what should I do with this pile of old (wiped) hard drives?

Throw them in the electronics recycling container if you don't need them.

DarkThoughts, to RedditMigration in How to Delete your Reddit Account and All Data under GDPR/CCPA

Posts and comments must be separately deleted before deleting your account. If not separately deleted, the content of the posts and comments will remain visible and disassociated from any account. If you want your posts and comments removed, follow the instructions on our help page.

Yeah, this is illegal. At least under GDPR. I'm not familiar with the California law.
Reddit has to delete ANY data associated with your account, and that would include the comments made.
