They come and go. They’re random clutter. We only need a few big instances that hosts a majority of the communities and that’s it. Why do we need so many smaller ones?
Lemm.ee that you're on has 25,718 users but only 2232 are active, that's a really small number. Lemmy.world that you're posting into is number 9 with 11,500 active users, that's still super small tbf.
Sometimes I find myself shopping for things that I’d prefer to go out and get within the same day, but now I’d have to order and wait a few days to get…So I’m wondering what some of those things may be for you?
I feel like Wilko had the odd bit, but if I was like, I need a lightening to audio wire, or a USB to USBC adapter then I'd struggle. You have to order those. I guess I notice because I'm in a ridiculous job where sometimes you need those things immediately and it's a nightmare.
She’s clearly having fun, running around in circles, chewing sticks, and finding and eating cat poop. And I don’t want to discourage her from having fun when I take her outside (except for the cat poop thing – that needs to stop)....
16 is even better. It's difficult because you really want them to start socialisation by that point and breeders individually socialising a litter can be a challenge, but for those who can it's a much more stable dog the owner is starting with.
I do dog rescue and a lot of people got their first ever dog over covid and people who had no idea how to raise a pup raised some really messed up dogs. Starting with an older dog that is a bit more stable just makes all the difference.
I’ll start off by saying that he has a bad past life. He was obviously abused by his previous owners and straight up abandoned in the woods. He has bad anxiety that he is on Prozac for, and it seems to be helping for the most part....
It's just all very weird. The thing is, there's things that work short term but ruin your dogs confidence and bond which cause bigger issues in the long term, punishing the dog falls in this box. I mean, you can train your dog by kicking it every time it does something wrong if you like, it might work, but it ruins your dog. A lot of these fake trainers fall into these things and cause real harm.
I mean, boxes in general are my organising style. I keep a lot of aquariums so I bought 8 shoebox sized boxes, one for substrate, one for decor, one for water testing, etc.
In my bathroom I used to have a lot of stuff so I bought a few wicker baskets, hair stuff, skin care, and make up, then a tall cupboard with fabric boxes for cleaning products, toothcare, hair dyes, bath bombs, you know. I have boxes everywhere.
There's enough space for everyone, just currently some people have 200 acre estates and some have bedsits and nobody is doing anything to try to equalise that.
What is the point of small instances?

Which items/products were you once able to get from local shops on a whim that you now more or less have to order online?

How do you discourage a dog from biting while playing?

My beagle has suddenly started resource guarding random stuff. What should I do to get this behavior to stop?

Have you ever come across some sort of container or organizer for anything that ended up being strangely useful?
I’m not a natural organizer, but I’m starting to appreciate things that help me organize as I get older....

Circumcised men, how do you feel about your parents having mutilated your penis without your consent?
These things are very controversial when it comes to women, but apparently most think it’s ok when it’s about men....
