Emperor, to movies in The Thing From Another World and The Thing

To be honest I was quite surprised to find out the original Blob was colour, but I decided to leave it on the list. The mind plays funny games with us (or mine does anyway).

The original 1958 movie is in color.

Nuts, so it was. The sequels are B&W, which is confusing.

I’d add Return of the Living Dead as a quasi-sequel to Night of the Living Dead.

Good call - it’s probably the best NotLD sequel/remake after Dawn of the Dead.

Also, Psycho hasn’t been mentioned.

I still don’t see the point of a shot-for-shot remake but if OP is looking for B&W remakes then this is a must-see.

Cat People is another.

I’m disappointed that I forgot this.

It’s the best way to watch it. I imported the Canadian DVD back in the day to get the B&W version.

This question comes about as my really enjoying The Thing, finding out it had an earlier version, and then finding i enjoyed that version more and for different reasons.

Heresy!

Now I have that off my chest…

I’d love to branch out and watch more monochrome movies with modem ties.

The Fly - I have a boxset of all the various Fly films.

I Am Legend adaptations - The Last Man on Earth (B&W), Omega Man, and I Am Legend (as well as it’s mockbuster I Am Omega). The novel inspiring:

Night of the Living Dead - as it’s public domain anyone can remake it and they have (few of which are worth watching). A more interesting remake is the Dawn of the Dead one, although the original is in colour.

Nosferatu and Nosferatu the Vampyre but I’d also throw in Shadow of the Vampire about the making of Nosferatu.

The Blob - although the original was in colour.

And any number of Dracula, Frankenstein, Wolfman films.

So, for right now, we have to keep our fingers crossed and hope the developers take up the call for a change

Indeed - we need better moderating tools asap. I believe there’s a Lemmy fork working on that.

Isn’t one of the chief selling points of the Fediverse that you can’t be censored because there’s always some instance that will welcome you? Another USP is that the rest of us don’t have to read it if we don’t want to.

You get freedom of speech and we get freedom from that speech (assuming it’s objectionable, and I have yet to see one of these posts where some complains about being stopped from posting funny cat memes).

I’m on Matrix because I want to be, I’m on Discord because I have to for certain communities. I’d never pay for Nitro.

Not as good as Boba Fett’s Spaceship Leia.

At least now we can give Leia back her proper name when she was in Jabba’s palace.

They are reprinting them at the moment so don’t rule it out but it’s a relatively expensive undertaking and so it’s unlikely that they’d splash out on Legends material unless they sell well. Eventually AI will bang these out I suppose.
