I was at the Del Mar Fair once and got some super green falafel. It was awesome. I’ve spent 30 years chasing that high.

What is good to eat when you have no appetite?

I am super sick right now and haven’t eaten much in a few days. It’s getting to the point where I am gonna need to force myself to eat something to keep my strength up but everything just sounds terrible to me right now. I have been subsisting mostly on small glasses of milk and the occasional packet of instant oatmeal....

I used to have to force feed myself when I wasn’t hungry. Ramen was essential for priming the appetite. But not the bad stuff. Good stuff like Black Shin

Meh, if one of mine shows up without me I’ll take it as a mark of its quality.

What hobbies help you minimize or avoid navigating commercialism?

By commercialism, I’m aiming at a mix of spending a lot and sifting through bloated business models (e.g. this or that accessory/equipment, microtransactions, etc.). Feel like many can relate to this sort of commercial fatigue, and yet it creeps even into hobbies where one tries to unwind....

Wood working. Whittling. You can buy very expensive tools or you can go old school and pick up used 100 year old ones for nothing or even make your own. You can buy wood or you can salvage it.

That’s going to be app specific. Not sure what apps do that but that’s how it would be

[DISCUSSION] What director(s) do you think have the best filmography?

I was checking out the new season of Fargo, which made me want to rewatch the 1996 movie and I got to thinking, the Coen Brothers have a fantastic filmography. They have way more hits than misses and they make some of the most interesting movies out there. No Country for Old Men is probably one of my favorites of all time. So...

Brazil is the best Christmas movie. Make sure you watch each of the endings.

The only dark spot on Terry Gilliam’s record is Brothers Grimm. The rest isn’t for everyone but it’s all quality.

He offers: Brazil Time Bandits 12 Monkeys Barron Munchausen Fisher King Fear and Loathing And Monty Python stuff.

I think the lesson here is that you should never become an admiral. Kirk was right.

Package management is optional according to Slackware and Linux From Scratch.

A key part you left out is the init scripts. Without those you don’t have the fundamental under the hood flavor of a distribution.

Ferengi move pretty fast. Faster than light if in the right kind of ship.

So yes on Monty Python, no on modern Heathcliff.

Do you enjoy other absurdist humor? Monty Python, Heathcliff comics post 2002?

Those were my three guesses too. Why one would use ply or stain on something like this has me bewildered.

Red on yella, kill a fella. Red on black, a friend of Jack

Slow down there. Just one bolt is needed to get a complete seal of the self.
