I’ve been running Linux Mint under XFCE for a while now and I am growing tired of it. I originally had cinnamon which I did not really like so I decided to go with XFCE and customize it to my liking....
I love Linux Mint, and always used cinnamon. I Loath the gnome experience, and XFCE has always struck me as too old feeling and sparse. Currently I use EndeavourOS with KDE Plasma and I couldn’t be happier.
If you’d like to try out KDE but don’t want to move away from a more stable experience to an Arch based distro, I can recommend MX Linux. It’s based on Debian stable instead of Ubuntu, and has a KDE plasma spin.
I am currently using Windows on an older HP Laptop, which I intend to replace with a Framework 16 by next summer, but my Desktop PC at home has been running EndeavourOS, my first ever Linux distro, since last summer, so I have some Arch-based experience....
Here’s another vote for EndeavourOS if you need it. I run BTRFS and timeshift-autosnap, but I’ve never needed to use it. Like the other poster said, I’ve had minor annoyances and brief package conflicts, but nothing critical has ever gone awry.
I think a better way for the other user to have stated this, is learning Linux, while difficult at times, should be a fun and rewarding experience. I’m about a year in, and this is all easy stuff to me. One year ago? I would have been as frustrated as you are. But I persevered, I learned, and I got a sense of accomplishment out of becoming competent. I don’t really need to ask too many questions now, because the more I figure things out, the easier it gets to figure things out.
If you’re not into that, Linux might not be for you. But I hope it is, I hope you persevere and keep learning and find the same satisfaction from it that I have.
When I run open RGB my Mouse shows up but not my keyboard and I’m not familiar with how to read hexadecimal so using Wireshark does not help me to add a new keyboard to open RGB
You could give this a try instead. It’s a reverse engineered iCue driver which probably supports your keyboard and any other Corsair peripherals you may have.
Well, that’s unfortunate. I have all razer peripherals that work great with openrazer for a back end and polychromatic for a gui front end. I don’t have any corsair devices anymore so I can be much help. Good luck.
Linux Mint XCFE -> Gnome?

Arch on semi-critical pc? (Also EndeavourOS vs raw Arch?)

New Linux user here. Is this really how I'm supposed to install apps on Linux?
