FireTower, (edited ) to asklemmy in What is with all the ex parte scenes in Law & Order?
@FireTower@lemmy.world avatar

They probably didn’t hire any lawyers for their writing team. This is pretty common in legal movies and shows. They aren’t making movies for lawyers who know about ex parte hearings. They’re making movies for the average Joe who can be convinced someone was found guilty in a civil case.

FireTower, to asklemmy in What is your unpopular flim opinion
@FireTower@lemmy.world avatar

It’s definitely a classic, it just seems like the parts with Ford in the middle of the film doesn’t really achieve much to me. I think a version of the film around Deckard chasing just Roy Batty (and not the others) might have been better. Hauer did fantastic work every time he was on screen he should have got more.

But maybe it was an artistic choice to include Deckard hunting the other replicants as a commentary on meaningless violence.

FireTower, to movies in I just watched Barbie, What did you guys think of the movie?
@FireTower@lemmy.world avatar

Totally agree on Ryan Gosling’s performance although I saw both Ken and Barbie as the protagonists when I watched it. Where they both acted as mirrors of each other until the end when they meet in the middle.

Almost like a Man (B+K) vs Self (B+K) conflict as opposed to a Man (B) vs Man (K) style conflict.

Theoretically you’re using actual colors taken from a (or several) environments that you intend to be in. As opposed to a few colors picked by an artist because the artist thought they’d be the colors in those environments.

As for the squares I think it was just an easy way to formulate a pattern digitally. Plus it seemed futuristic at the time.

Ngl I wish every New England state had a pine tree on their flag. It’s such a great symbol for a flag. Recognizable, easy to prescribe meaning to, historically significant, and easy to draw.
