I agree with you. I get the sentiment, but even stealing from large corporations like Wal-Mart is just backfiring in slow motion. They will eventually just either raise pricing to accommodate theft, install theft deterrents, or hire more people to be theft deterrents, all of which the cost is passed onto the customer. ie, you and me, and the thieves that complain about the high prices and steal to offset the cost. This isn’t to defend shitty practices by big corporations. But nuanced opinions are lost on most people, and I’ll subsequently likely be called out for defending consumerism/capitalism.
Buy expensive shoes. Well, let me rephrase that. Buy GOOD shoes. A good pair of QUALITY shoes will save you money in the long term as they will last a lot longer than buying many pairs of cheap shoes.
Nowadays I find a lot of games feel like too much work and/or anxiety when I just want to relax for like, 30 minutes to an hour after a long day. On the other hand, the games specifically designed to help you unwind just feel boring imo....
Why use acronyms when people are looking for suggestions? What did you do with the 30 seconds you saved by typing acronyms instead of just typing out the name?
I had to look up Animal Crossing by the acronym. But it’s not just about ME, or YOU. You’re attempting to HELP someone, why would you post something that they then have to go look up? Just type out the words for fucks sake.
Look I play games too. I never said not to. I said it was ironic that someone would ‘relax’ by ‘going outside to enjoy nature’ in a video game. IDAF where you live, outside is outside. I’ve lived in remote areas and i’ve lived in heavily populated areas. no matter where I lived there was a park, or a sidewalk nearby. maybe put down the internet for a minute and go outside if you’re getting this triggered over a sentence.
I’m really in the same boat. Lately it’s been these:
Dorfromantik
Mini Motorways
Halls of Torment
Vampire Survivors
Brotato
Firewatch was great but it’s really a one or two sitting game. Same with Unpacking.
What I’m REALLY looking for but having trouble finding is something like a city builder or house builder that there is no money, nothing like that. Just creativity in building. Way back when I first tried the Sims, I loved the house building part more than anything.
I’ve been searching for something new though. I tried Satisfactory but really just wish it had a creative mode. I tried Terraria but I can’t get the Minecraft allegory out of my head so this game infuriates me.

What are your "poor person" money life hacks?
Let’s get a list going. Like with a Target debit card you can get $40 cash back and it takes 1 to 2 days to be withdraw from your checking.
What game do you play to just chill?

What reasons are there for being concerned about companies like google and meta etc collecting data and tracking me?

What can we do, as lemmy users, to fight fake news being pushed in the platform?
