Everyone in the UK under 40 never used imperial in their education, but everything is still imperial.
Even stuff that’s not supposed to be. Milk is sold in pints but labelled in ml. Sometimes it’s litres because these are smaller. Timbre is all sold in a metric equivalent, but it isn’t consistent. You don’t know if the piece you’ve had delivered is 2.4m or 2.44m. Rulers have both metric and imperial, unless you pay extra for a single system - which makes them harder to use.
The worst thing is recipes, many recipes are imperial online because of the USA. American imperial measurements aren’t the same as UK ones.
It is all driven by ignorance. The royal family (TV show) summed this ignorance up best. They complained it took them longer to get to the destination because their sat nav was in kilometres and there’s more kilometres than miles so everything is further away.
It by default places them more intelligently than word. This frustrates people that want it to be placed where they want it.
Word doesn’t place images intelligently, but it makes it easier to move images for novice users. This makes word simpler and may initially seem better. However, if your document gets large and has more content added. Word can alter the locations of images erratically and you may find yourself constantly fixing them. If you understand how latex works and accept it methods, it can be a whole lot less stressful when working on larger documents.
They are often sold to non-tech people as fire sticks.
There general use case is:
You buy a fire stick from Amazon.
You give it to someone that ‘hacks’ them.
You transfer money to an account and are provided login credentials.
The ‘hack’ is just enabling side loading on the Amazon stick and downloading an IP client. Takes two minutes and is easily done, but people charge £50 for it. You can do it yourself if you already have access to an IPTV provider.
The difficult thing to do online is get access to the IPTV provider to purchase such a service. They don’t have any public online presence. They manage and sell their services through group chat apps like discord, telegram and some lesser know equivalent apps. The online way to get access to them is through someone you know.
Refering people to these services is actively encouraged. The providers often offer discounts/free periods if you referral makes a purchase.
The use of these services in the UK is so endemic that football channels now frequently advertise VPNs. Because it encouraged by the vendors of these IPTV sellers.
These services are not legal. So there is little recourse if the quality of service is bad or they sell your account details to someone. They also don’t spend much on infrastructure, so you the streaming quality is often limited to 720p and will struggle to serve during sporting popular sporting events.
No one is going to offer you it on here. Most people in this sub will be able to get better quality downloads for free. They also don’t want a public record of them using or distribution such service.
I don’t use them and don’t recommend them, I also don’t like live sports which is their biggest selling point. As live sports is very expensive as so much is broken up between different legal providers.
If you don’t know anyone that uses them, you’ll have to make some friends. Best place is sport events/pubs.
It’s turning complete, so it’s should be able to do anything. Power point is also turning complete, but not practical. Excel is practical enough to get started then moving on to something better gets hard because people depend on those excel sheets.
