I’ve never had issues with Firefox on Android, and because I use Firefox on desktop I can sync my browsers between devices

Honestly I find it faster on my phone than chrome

The amount of people I knew who were like, “There’s no way Hillary could lose so I don’t need to vote,” or, “Bernie got fucked so I’m not voting out of spite,” were too damn high

The “best” part was seeing how low the voter turnout was in our district that typically leans blue, well in 2016 the turnout was hella low and it went hella red for the first time in a long time

Looking at raw numbers the red was pretty consistent from election to election but that year so many people who would vote blue didn’t vote that it swung the election

Felt bad but now those people I know haven’t missed a single election

Personally I typically type like that (and like this) due to typing like I speak

Stilted with many gaps

Sometimes with a lot of parentheses due to the scatter shot nature of my brain

But that’s a conversation for another time

My least favorite is when you go back to watch season 1, enjoy it, then watch the new season and you can’t even finish it due to how different it is

I agree whole heartedly that if you have suicidal thoughts you shouldn’t own firearms. It’s a recipe for disaster if you do. And if you have those thoughts you should seek help. There’s people in your life who will miss you dearly when you’re gone, even if you don’t think so.

And I’m sorry for your loss, I know how hard it is when someone you care about commits suicide. I’ve known 4 people who have. Though none of them used firearms to do so I’ll never forget them.

Personally I’ll never own pistols as I’ve had too many bad experiences with pistols. The why is a bit of a doozy.

Trigger warning Child Abuse, Breaking and Entering, and Attempted Murder.On a number of occasions my dad held a pistol to my head screaming at me to tell him where his drugs that he had already done were. He did this a lot to my siblings and I before he finally got clean. I still refuse to speak with him as there’s just too much pain there. My siblings tell me he’s a lot different now, that he’s back to the way he was when they were young, but I’ve only ever known him as the abusive drug addict that he was. Him and some of my other relatives are why I own firearms really as a number of them have said that they “can’t wait to get the order to hunt people like me in the streets.” And one went to prison for kicking my door in to try. That was when that relative found out I was a gun owner. They didn’t get shot, we just patiently waited for the police to arrive while they sat in my entry way.

Hell and that’s a Fox “News” poll, so that would likely have their own flavor of bias trying to make it as much in their own favor as possible.

I don’t see this as advocating for violence, more as pointing out how a specific group of people only care about things that personally affect them so they currently don’t care about the issue.

Hell the NRA cared about gun control when the Black Panthers started advocating for buying guns back in the day. Why? Because they saw it as a personal threat to their well-being.

I own several guns as well and I’m greatly in favor of better gun control laws. I’m a bit odd as well in that regard lol

See that’s where a lot of people go wrong

Automate what you can but don’t tell anyone and don’t turn it in any faster

Make your deadlines and be one with the chill

Hell one could argue that memes are as old as social constructs

So they could in all likelihood predate moden humans

So, uh, yes.

Yes (IMO) it does count.

It was passed down for centuries in a non-gene based way among people

Gormadt,
@Gormadt@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Correct

So basically what I’m saying is that there’s a lot of people gatekeeping what a meme is without understanding what a meme is

Or if they’re referring to the first of the definitions in the screenshot I shared, not understanding that different people can find things humorous

The biggest meme of all is our spoken languages

How quickly they process the information, how accuratly they could determine the source, and how accuratly they could determine the location would all be fairly sensitive information.

Basically what I’m saying is that if they announced right after it happened that “Hey guys that sub imploded at X depth and the debris field will be at Y location because we heard a pressure vessel of the correct size crush followed by the sound of something of roughly the correct mass crashing into the sea floor.” Then everyone would know how capable our equipment is.

Basically announcing it days later gives a conclusion to the questions of what happened and also will likely keep others from meeting a similar fate. Not to mention the benefit of telling other countries that “Yes we can and will find out about what goes on underwater, just how quickly is more of a mystery… For you.”

Gormadt,
@Gormadt@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Of course not, it’s not like it was a Mad Catz controller. Logitech is at least a little bit better than that.

Gormadt,
@Gormadt@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

The accuracy is a big part of it

Saying “We heard something in that multi square mile area that may be worth looking into” is way different than “We know exactly where and what it was”

And how quickly they could definitively identify what the sound was and where can play a big role in identifying capabilities of the systems at play and the how advanced they are

And of course knowing capabilities is a key part in developing systems to circumvent such systems

Basically what I’m trying to say in entirely too many words is that specifics matter a lot, especially to the military. And specifically knowing what someone is capable of can be used as a way of getting around it or using their own systems against them. Especially so that you know you’re not investing in systems research that is already defeated by anothers systems.

But instant gratification go brr

Seriously though, the amount of people I ask “what kinds of hobbies do you have” and they reply that they don’t have any is honestly pretty sad

There’s a lot of hobbies that you can get into for really cheap to free, they just spend all of their free time on social media

Straight up when I had dental surgery due to some abscessed teeth and rotting jaw I had to pay in advance.

I asked, “What if I can’t pay today?”

As I stood there pale as a sheet, sweating like I was in the Sahara, shivering and nauseous from the infection they simply replied, “Then we can’t do the surgery today.”

I put it on one of credit cards knowing full well that it’d be at least a year before I paid it off.

I was back for another dental surgery 6 weeks later for more jaw being removed and teeth getting pulled as the infection came right back with a righteous fury.

I was given antibiotics with a warning that they would affect my hearing, liver, and kidneys. I was also told that if my pee turned brown, I turned yellow, or the infection got worse I was to immediately go to the ER and bring my antibiotics bottle with me so that they would know for sure what I was already taking so they’d know to just put me on an IV.

Edit: For those curious: those antibiotics worked (I can’t remember the name) but my hearing took weeks to be mostly back to normal. That year I spent a little over 10k on my jaw (those were the second and third dental surgery that year) because my health insurance refused to cover it so I had to lean on my dental insurance which quickly buckled under the weight.
