For example, I used to follow a lot of subreddits for individual YouTube content creators, however, Lemmy doesn’t really have the size or culture to support this currently.
As someone who has thought similar to this in the past I would say it’s more about no longer worrying about things like how am I going to pay for a place to live, a car or other transportation, or caring for others with no job. I can imagine things may look better to them if someone hit the reset button on the world since they may have more of an opportunity to survive in the new world than in the current one.
I was a night owl as well until around the age of 25. After that I just couldn’t do it anymore. And I guess it all depends on your definition of night owl as well. Back before age 25 I would go from work to staying out all night to showing up back at work the next morning with zero sleep or watch movies and play video games till very late without any issues. These days I can’t imagine going out like that unless it’s a festival, but the last one I even went to was 2016. I am still up till about 1am just because with kids I like to have the 2-3 hours of peace to do what I want to do. It’s about 1am when I dose off. It’s not like I am going to bed at 10pm, I just can’t stay up all night like I used to.
Wait till you are 35-40 years old. Guaranteed, staying up until 6am is going to be a challenge. Also, getting up around 6am is easier because you gotta pee.
Not necessarily. If we disappear, there will be no one left to maintain the dangerous technology we use that could ruin the planet further if it fails. For example, nuclear power plants.
Of course, even that will eventually clear up, and the planet will recover, but I wasn’t sure if you meant short-term or long-term.
I am pretty sure the wine was homemade and gifted to them from another family member? So they decided to drink it after opening it. Not that it changes anything, but at least there was some context as to why.
This feels like my job. 17 years I’ve been there and the amount of times they panic and set impossible deadlines on things that in the end never seem to matter later on is staggering…
I just turned 40 earlier this year (last year for some by now?) and I know and seen all of these shows back in the early 90s, maybe late 80s. There wasn’t too much to watch back then, and reruns were always on at night. I know I have seen all the popular stuff from back then, probably not much of the lesser known stuff.
As someone who was 24 at the time, and probably the perfect age to buy one if it was my parents’ generation, I was nowhere near ready to buy a house still… honestly, 23-30 were the best years of my life, then I got married and brought one in 2014, which was still semi decent to buy at the time. It was super hard, though, and I have no idea how all these people today are somehow paying above asking price in cash or getting mortgages paying crazy amounts over asking with these interest rates! Either I did things completely wrong in life or these bad decisions people are making today will come full circle a few years from now.
This came up after the last season of Loki and I was genuinely shocked he was in this season since I heard they scrapped the storyline. I didn’t realize the trial was ongoing until today. I guess it was only right to see how it played out until firing him.
I visited Japan like 15 years ago, your not alone over there. Everyone does that and has little boxes to store them in. This goes for all trash they make, they don’t have trash cans in public since someone abused them once to bomb a train area. I loved it over there… so much care and respect for everything.
Been using Navidrome for the past year and loving it. Subsonic was my goto but with no updates in years I wanted something more modern. That paired with Symfonium app is perfect. Just remember they just updated navidrome a few weeks ago and the next update if you want last.fm access you have to use your own api key sadly.
As one of the few holdouts for using any streaming service I still rely on a local library and tied to last.fm. They do the same thing for probably the last 10 years now and I love it. It’s nice to see what I’ve discovered and loved for the year. I do not share it though, no social media either.
As someone who worked in tech support and a sys admin role, yes, and thank you. I would say 90% of all issues and problems I had were either solved or pointed in the right direction since 2006, the year I started.
As of now there are no ties to the 2016 movie shin godzilla but they also don’t know 100% either. If it is related to any it would be that one. If you haven’t seen that one see it now, it was fantastic.
This is why I love the fast food apps… I sit at my desk and pick what I want then go pick it up. Added bonus that most offer great deals through the apps and I can pick and choose the best combination to get the lowest price possible.
I used to check the front page at least once every day, and occassionally check specific subreddits. Now I don’t look at reddit unless theres some drama, like mods getting purged, then I’d go there and enjoy the drama. Occasionally there will be questions that only reddit has the answer to so I have to reluctantly use it. I...
I lost power last night and had nothing to do… lemmy, sadly, doesn’t have as much content yet so I popped in once just to see. Spent like 10 min there with no account since I did delete it and realized it also wasn’t showing me much either.
Having an account with everything you like really helps the experience, glad I looked and felt better when it also didn’t really give me the fix I wanted. Power is back and I don’t forsee myself going back anytime soon, outside very specific google searches where I might find relevant information needed to do my job.
