One thing atheists often ignore is that being part of a religion means being part of a community, a group. That alone is reason enough for many people to stick with it.

Sure, the preacher/priest/whatever may be a scammer asshole, but this isn’t about him, it’s about me and the people around me. I belong in here and so do these people.

Remember, humans are social creatures. Being part of a group is a big fucking deal.

Another thing I’ve been giving some thought, religion can be a “lazy shortcut” for the brain to acknowledge some stuff without having to spend too much energy thinking about it. It’s a lot easier to wrap your head around “Because God wants it” than digging deep into the hows and whys of anything. No, it’s not scientific in the least, but humans are lazy. I am lazy, you are lazy, everyone here is lazy, we just opt to save energy in different things.

Fall of Civilizations, though those are podcasts first. All of them are amazing.

Lockpicking Lawyer makes the best short videos. Not “yt shorts”, it’s just that it takes him 2-5 seconds to pick open the vast majority of locks, the rest of the video is his comment on the lock quality.

JoshStrifeHayes has 3 separate channels now, but that main channel that deals with MMOs still makes quality content in my opinion, but not as often. I also enjoy him playing the old games on JoshStrifePlays.

I guess they think they have nothing to hide, because they don’t know, or don’t care about, how their own information can be used against them.

Because it doesn’t happen in an obviously invasive manner, they don’t think it’s a big deal. It’s harder to associate an abstract concept to actual value.

Like, if your search result had 4 pages and you order by price, suddenly it’s now 2 pages. My bet is shady assholery to fuck with sellers that aren’t paying enough, much like Amazon

Which are often lacking. If I want to search for everything except brand X, I have to check the box for every other brand, which is a hassle. If I’m looking for “pirate costume” and I don’t want anything related to One Piece, there’s no checkboxes, or anything, to help me.

deathworlders.com - Dunno if it goes into that detail of us evolving from violent apes, but at least from chapter zero, seems to be mostly due to us being from a “high gravity” world and having “builtin combat drugs” (adrenalin)

Considering the amount of things that can kill us, both micro and macro, and the fact that we ingest poison (alcohol, drugs and even actual frog poison) for fun, it’s pretty easy for any alien life to look at us and think “holy shit, those creatures are fucking hardcore!”
