MP3DirectCut - https://mpesch3.de/ - might also suit. I use it a lot for community radio stuff as it doesn't have to pre-load the entire file, making extracting interviews from the MP3 log files a very quick process. Cue the file, B for begin, N for end, File, Save selection, done.

What's the point of buying new phones every years?

Other than your carrier give it for free or cheap, I don’t really see the reason why should you buy new phone. I’ve been using Redmi Note 9 for past 3 years and recently got my had on Poco F5. I don’t see the point of my ‘upgrade’. I sold it and come back to my Note 9. Gaming? Most of them are p2w or microtransaction...

For me it's either when I find the included RAM is too small (as apps grow over time) or when the flash memory degrades to a noticeable degree, or when the camera loading takes too long.

Don't follow the manual, follow what I say!

I used to work the evening/night shift at a coffee shop chain. That time of night in inherently slow, so we would get saddled with the general upkeep of the equipment. Nothing too high tech, just simple disassemble, clean, re-assemble (coffee grounds get into EVERYTHING). I took a shining to the task because I’m fairly handy...

For a compressor to catch fire there must have been other issues. Simply leaving a fridge door open should not be sufficient to have a catastrophic failure - an overheat cut out should have tripped. Still, good that you had CYA under control.

I'm sure I had it many years before this image from 2016 - it's always had a place on my home screen since the original Galaxy Tab 1. (which is still going today as an SMS device at a radio station.)

Replaced with /kbin PWA for now.

Yes. That's a PWA (Progressive Web App) - it is like a real app but functions inside a Web browser. It's pretty good.

What is something good happening in your city/town/local area?

My city redesign our downtown roads to have a whole bunch of horrible one ways in the 50s, and we are FINALLY changing back to how it was while making improvements like bike lanes. The first attempt at bike lanes with the current layout was horrible, basically death traps everywhere... Hoping for something better this time, lol....

We're supposed to be getting a rail trail soon. Train line hasn't been used for more than 30 years. New England, NSW.

The train folk aren't happy about it, but I can't see the government spending billions to open a badly decayed line when one already exists two hours away along the coast, and they're already building another one on the plains not too far away.
