Iceblade02,

5k€ (equivalent, inflation adjusted), per month

Iceblade02,

I just use my mobile browser (firefox for android) to view it.

Iceblade02,

A bit unclear writing but I expect that’s 880 of the respondents.

Iceblade02,

Seems like a neat page, particularly for US folks. Unfortunately it only showed online events in my country.

Iceblade02,

Most of the people I’ve met recently have been via university or work. I’ve tried going to a board game club as well as taking dance lessons, but there don’t really seem to be many of people there my age. For context, I’m in my early twenties, living in northern Europe - and not particularly a fan of going to bars, parties or drinking.

They’ve done this to our city center. Last time I visited (half a year ago) most of the shops and restaurants had gone out of business and they’re contemplating turning the café/mall area into apartments.

Meanwhile, during the same period of time, a huge car mall has started sprawling on the city edge. It’s a huge shame really. Used to be a very pleasant area to visit and walk around.

Nowadays it’s either take the bus (30+ minutes once every half hour), the bike (30 minutes if the weather is ok and you work up a sweat) or hope there’s parking and pay exorbitant rates (10 minutes).

I used to commute to work via public transit, until they put fees on the commuter parking by the train station as well. Slightly more expensive to drive all the way, but way faster (1/2 the time).

So… yeah. The “fuck cars” attitude of my municipality turned me from someone who travels by foot, bike, bus, train and car into someone who travels almost exclusively by car. I need a car, the rest is optional.

Iceblade02,

Yeah, we can still however analyze the statement f(x)=100x$/1x$ lim(x->inf) and clearly come to the conclusion that as the number of bills x approaches infinity will be equal to 100.

However, limes exists as a tool to avoid infinities and this exact problem when using calculus for practical applications - and as such it doesn’t apply here.

Iceblade02,

Yeah, energy prices have skyrocketed these past few years where I live. Last winter we had as high as (equivalent) 1€/kWh. It really is anxiety inducing when you pull down the indoor temps to sub 15 celsius, almost halve your usage and still end up with the power bill tripling

Iceblade02,

Having 20 years of relative peace to start off is no small feat given the size of Rome and the issues mounting at the time. Still, he failed to in securing a good heir to lead the empire after his death. His son, a mere 18 at his death would be rather unprepared to lead the empire. It might have been more prudent to adopt a more suitable heir.

I submit King Haakon VII - the first modern King of Norway. Throughout his reign he worked to support the Norwegian people, acting as a unifying and stabilizing figure, particularly in times of crisis. Examples are during the first few years of the country, during WW1, the occupation of WW2 and also after the 1927 elections, where he decided to uphold parliamentary convention and allow the workers party (which at the time espoused a revolutionary socialist manifesto) to form a government (against the wishes of the liberal and conservative majority in parliament, which had failed to form a government).

Iceblade02,

Sounds like the Danish welfare system is more robust than the one we have here in Sweden - however, I would like to point out that what we have is not socialism. The central ethos of socialism is the collective ownership of the means of production (usually through the government), and our economies are first and foremost rather successful capitalist mixed market economies with strong regulations and a certain degree of government ownership in limited (usually critical) areas of society. With the help of our capitalist economies, we create and tax the wealth and productivity needed to fund a rather robust welfare system.

I suppose it depends a lot on the nature of said time-stopping power. Using it to threaten some of the most powerful people on the planet into using said power to do good (or at least not bad) would be on the list of stuff to do.

For instance - a note threatening Putin with the loss of a toe or something (and further escalating consequences) unless he makes a public statement announcing the intent of Russian Armed forces to withdraw from Ukraine.

Iceblade02,

Instead of making a long list of every non cis-male group, wouldn’t it be easier to just say that it is for everybody except cis men?

What are the best steps to reduce the wealth of billionaires?

There are a myriad of news articles here on Lemmy that display the abhorrent influence billionaires have on our society (especially the US, where I reside). I consistently read comments where the posters appear hopeless and despondent of the situation, while others jokingly refer to the guillotine....

Iceblade02,

I’d make personal asset-backed debt above a certain amount per capita taxable. The real reason they pay so little tax is that they never actually realize their assets - they just borrow against them, and all that debt is then slowly deleted through inflation.

So, when they use asset-backed debt instead of income - tax it.

Iceblade02,

Oh man, I can second HealthyGamerGG. Decent tips and aside from that also a pleasant fellow all around (at least that’s how he comes off in his vids)

Iceblade02,

The obvious answer there would be that you get wiped out if you’re too loud, hence the only surviving civilizations are the quiet ones. We wouldn’t’ve been met by a friendly transmission politely informing us, but rather whatever the cause for this silence is - some force so overwhelming that it possibly inadvertently wipes out nascent species.

Say, for instance self-replicating artificial space probes designed to seek out “new life and civilizations” gone wrong. So, deep space is full of these things and if a star draws their attention, all of them within transmission distance make a beeline - say hi and then proceeds to “salvage” any usable matter in the star system to replicate themselves and spread out again, thereby also dooming whatever life attracted them in the first place.

Iceblade02,

Yeah, only the “enlightenment” comes at the price of getting your hands chopped of if you produce insufficient precious materials. No thanks.

Iceblade02,

This is usually more an issue of awful website design than anything else. 90% of issues I face in the FF app can be resolved by viewing the desktop site instead.

Iceblade02,

In Sweden passing on the right is only permitted in two main scenarios.

Rate of speed lower than 70kph, or the lanes go to different destinations.
