JustEnoughDucks, to electronics in My customisable solar hot water system controller (project in progress)

Just as a PCB designer, make sure that you spec out the 240V voltage neutral and live copper trace width to the current going through them. For example, at 10 amps, those traces look much too small. Is it going to be in a high humidity environment? The spacing between traces also should be bigger for creepage/clearance reasons.

Cool project though!

I mean, that was actually pretty cool to read about! Speedrunning community always does the most crazy things as far as hardware memory dumping and analyzing to drop time in a speed run. 😅 that is passion.

It did happen on a device from 1996 though where in the time, programming and error checking was so barebones and efficient that a single bit could really mess a lot of things up.

That’s why I specified a time period 😉. Originally bug were called bugs because literal bugs would get in the holes of punchcards and make programs not run. Not a problem anymore! In the same way, systems have implemented checksums and error checking such that it really isn’t a big deal for the vast majority of applications.

JustEnoughDucks, to privacy in The Boost android client for Lemmy is displaying these dark pattern ads pretending to be system notifications. What security/privacy conscious Lemmy clients do you recommend?

The only thing it is missing for me is community search. It is great! Also the most customizable of the bunch in my opinion

JustEnoughDucks, to piracy in Youtube has better anti-adblock now. Other than Invidious, any way around it? Purging and re-dowloading the ublock stuff didn't work
@JustEnoughDucks@feddit.nl avatar

I did for.the last year and a half. It has yet to block a single sponsor while the Firefox sponsorblock works fine lol.

It also, for the past few weeks, now has a “report problem” banner at the start of every video. Might look at an alternative.

For desktop, Firefox + ublock origin has yet to have me see a single ad.

JustEnoughDucks, to selfhosted in Those who are self hosting at home, what case are you using? (Looking for recommendations)

Have a node 304. Extremely happy with it. Literally unbeatable hard drive and CPU cooler compatibility for its size.

That being said, it only fits 6 drives.

The one thing that I would look into is digital signing and change tracking

If you use that, I am not sure how it works between linux office programs and Microsoft office.
