Lauchs,

In my more conspiratorial moments I wonder if social media driven social justice is encouraged by the elites to keep us fighting over whether the movies have enough gay/Black/trans actors, critical race theory, trans bathrooms etc so that inequality and serious change never come up meaningfully.

Were I one of the wealthy elite, I could think of no better ally in the fight to support the status quo than twitter social justice.

To be clear, I think most of those folks are doing what they believe is right and I generally agree but it also creates a giant schism between Left and Right when it should be about Haves and Have nots.

Lauchs,

They’ve been casting about for a movie that’ll work as the last few haven’t come close to expectations. Makes sense to leverage the most successful streaming show of all time (I think.)

Lauchs,

I mean, (uhhhh spoilers ahead) most of it sucked but Boba riding that Rancor brought childhood dreams to life as I’m pretty sure I made him do that a few times. Admittedly, he had a lightsabers in 7 year old me’s version but nothing’s perfect.

Lauchs,

I go through that same thought process at least once a week on lemmy.

Lauchs,

Is that Sasha Grey? I’d watch the hell out of a Star Wars featuring her.

Lauchs,

Where do you buy albums for $10?!?

I also, and I can’t speak for everyone, like to listen to a wide variety of music. If I bought these magic $10 albums, once a month since 2006 (spotify’s founding) I would still only have 216 albums, which is nowhere near enough.

Lauchs,

I do have a few friends who love collecting vinyl. They’re reasonably established in their careers, really seem to love rooting around record shops whenever we travel and have amazing collections that take up a chunk of their living space…

But basically, I agree with you. Those collector friends are definitely the very rare exceptions.

Lauchs,

I didn’t even know ebay was still a thing!

Though, if the point of paying for music is to compensate the artist, ebay kind of avoids that unless they do direct sales now?

Lauchs,

Red, easily.

Yeah, some childhood stuff would suck but you could probably skip a good few grades. As you already (hopefully) know how to socialize by now, a lot of the childhood friend stuff seems pretty optional.

Dating would be really tricky through the early teenage years as I don’t know how I’d feel about girls my own physical age at that point.

Because I’m relatively older and would have insane future knowledge, I could absolutely rock in stocks and have enough money to actually effect change. (Eg, singelhandedly fund a massive Democrat turnout machine in the rustbelt for 2016.)

The hard part would be somehow connecting with my current group of friends whom I love to death and wouldn’t want to lose. They are the only thing that makes the blue pill tempting.

Lauchs,

Well, there goes half of lemmy!

If anyone cares to elaborate, was this instance or community stuff? Anything we the grateful upvoters/readers/occasional posters can do?

Lauchs,

Pretty sure Newt Gingrich did that but with cancer. And then continued to lecture about the lack of morality on the Left.

Lauchs,

The Boys, Expanse, Invincible, Wheel of Time, Lord of the Rings, Fleabag, Good Omens, Man in the High Tower and Reached come to mind. Admittedly, I haven’t watched a few of those.

US residents: What big domestic policy improvements have the american people won from congress in the last 30 years? (kbin.social)

Interpret improvements as you like. For me it's any large scale reforms or legislative packages designed to improve the country for all or see to the material interests of the majority without overly benefiting the elite....

Lauchs,

The inflation reduction act is probably the most significant piece of climate change policy in American history and is expected to bring emissions to a little under half 2005 levels.

Also, I think it capped insulin prices at $35 a month? That was the hope anyway.

Lauchs,

Goddamn, America you never cease to find new ways to disappoint me.

It seems to vary state by state, though also for anyone on medicaid/medicare. You might be screwed by that professional job insurance!

I dunno if it helps but some googling took me to this diabetes resource Which seemed pretty good. Might be worth checking as this seems like stuff you have to look into vs having it happen automatically because why not screw us one more time?

Lauchs,

I don’t have access to their data but my guesses are something like:

A) Money isn’t an issue for a large number of subscribers.

B) People like those specific models after stumbling onto them on reddit or whatnot. And while there are many other attractive women, the Onlyfans model is the one they like best.

C) Similar to gonewild, there’s an allure to someone ostensibly being an amateur rather than a pornstar.

D) Laziness. I imagine onlyfans really took off during the pandemic. For those who don’t really look at their credit card bills, I doubt there are other reminders.

Lauchs,

I absolutely listened to that song on the way home after.

Lauchs,

Mr Show had a 7 minute musical whole about basically this scenario:
