📢Entire mod team on r/mildlyinteresting (and more subs) removed and locked out of their accounts after changing their rules upon community's request. (They're also switching subs BACK to SFW) (kbin.social)

EDIT: GO DM MODS OF YOUR FAVORITE SUBREDDITS AND POLITELY ASK ABOUT MIGRATION!: something as simple as "Hey, I love this community but I no longer use reddit, will you guys be making a community on Kbin or other alternatives? Let me know please, thanks." will work!! We need more voices encouraging migration!...

LinkOpensChest_wav,

Imagine having more money than anyone can spend in a lifetime and users who create the content for you. All you have to do is sit on your ass and do and say nothing, but then imagine what a pants-on-head stupid fool you’d have to be to do anything to mess that up, to let your ego totally disrupt the sweet deal you’ve got going. That’s Steve Huffman – the king of all losers.

LinkOpensChest_wav,

Tbh everyone just needs to leave reddit

Let the bots take over

It’s always been Stormfront 2.0 anyway

Fuck reddit

Did you know..?

DuckDuckGo has two non-javascript versions of their search engine and both of them are very lightweight, especially the lite version.

You can access them via:

Html: https://html.duckduckgo.com/html

Lite: https://lite.duckduckgo.com/lite

LinkOpensChest_wav,

Unfortunately, both of them alter search results based on locational data rather than merely responding to user input

The only ones I’ve found that don’t are Mojeek and some SearXNG instances

LinkOpensChest_wav,

Yeah, wow. I expected Biden to be bad, but I didn’t expect him to be “let’s continue to extend the fascism” bad. Just a politer Trump tbh

LinkOpensChest_wav,

The link that supposedly proves Mozilla has “ceased caring about technology” indicates nothing of the sort.

This whole article seems completely unhinged and untrustworthy.

LinkOpensChest_wav,

It’s a good video that addresses a lot of misconceptions. I do believe I’m an introvert, but I also see a lot of people greatly misunderstanding introversion/extroversion.

One part of the video that really hit home for me is the part where he talks about having a purpose. I can speak in front of large crowds because I’m there with a defined purpose, whereas I’ve never gotten used to small talk. This became really obvious back when I was in a band. People would talk to me after the show at the table and assume I was the same person I was during our performance, whereas in a way that was just a role I played, but it was comfortable for me because I was there with a purpose. It’s not this alone that defines introversion/extroversion, but I feel like a lot of people could benefit from understanding this. It’s why most of the friends I make are centered around shared hobbies and interests.

I usually don’t click YouTube links, but this was good.

LinkOpensChest_wav,

Thanks for providing an example of the type of person I’m talking about. You sound just like their self-centered asses! Good satire.

LinkOpensChest_wav,

While I genuinely feel bad for economically disadvantaged workers with long commutes in used vehicles, I can’t help but notice most of the complaints about fuel prices come from people who: A. Shout down anyone trying to improve public transportation infrastructure by saying it can’t work in rural areas (it can, and has), and B. Own outrageously large personal vehicles that guzzle gas and houses with 2+ stall garages.

I’ll listen to complaining from anyone who doesn’t fall into one or both of these two groups.

LinkOpensChest_wav,

I have a flashlight with a mode that does the same, and I had it for two years before I noticed.

LinkOpensChest_wav,

Did you intend to make some kind of point here?

LinkOpensChest_wav,

This happened 3 weeks ago, just before things really started to get ugly on reddit

LinkOpensChest_wav,

The moral fortitude of most pro sports fans is abysmally low, so that tracks with my expectations

LinkOpensChest_wav,

The whole site is bot infested! Especially the large subs, but I've personally had scambots pop into my posts even on smaller subreddits.

People who say they won't leave reddit because "there's no good alternative" really have their head in the sand about how bad it really is. Nearly every alternative I've seen suggested is at least better than reddit (except for the really far-right ones like voat).

LinkOpensChest_wav,

Thanks. I should have done that myself.

LinkOpensChest_wav,

I doubt they work, and they’re definitely not worth the price imo

I can get a pair of prescription sunglasses for less than that

LinkOpensChest_wav,

I don’t believe the glasses you linked will do so either lol

LinkOpensChest_wav,

I live in a ranching state (South Dakota) where beef is processed locally, and it’s nearly impossible to get grass-fed meat. Sure, some of it is labeled “grass-fed” with a drastically higher price point (unsustainable for most people), but the whole industry is so corrupt and ethically bankrupt that it’s a meaningless label, just like almost anything else you buy here.

LinkOpensChest_wav,

So then you admit that it’s definitely possible, and not impossible, to avoid Nestle products

LinkOpensChest_wav,

hasn’t at least had a McDonald’s shake or something

What they’ve done in the past is irrelevant. If they choose to forgo Nestle products from this day forward, then it is possible.

Are you legally mandated to go shop at the grocery store? No?

I never argued that one was legally mandated to shop at a grocery store. Whether one shops at a grocery store or not, one can consult a list and therefore not buy Nestle products. This is quite simple.

Then why would you posit that response?

Just as an example of how it is possible not to buy certain products, regardless of how ubiquitous they are.

LinkOpensChest_wav,

Oh sorry I didn’t realize we are legally mandated to eat out at places that use Nestle products, my bad.

The statement that it’s impossible is entirely wrong.

LinkOpensChest_wav,

You’re talking to someone with celiac disease and severe lactose intolerance. Sure, it’s “impossible to avoid Nestle,” in the same way that it’s “impossible to avoid gluten and dairy.”

Aka, it’s possible. I rely on reading labels, researching brands, and researching a restaurant before ever setting foot inside. If I can do this, then someone who wants to avoid Nestle can too. It’s very possible.

LinkOpensChest_wav,

If the idea of consulting a list and calling ahead to a restaurant is too hefty of a concept for you to hold onto, then yes I can see why there’s going to be a disconnect. Let’s just go our separate ways, and I feel confident that eventually you’ll get there.

LinkOpensChest_wav,

Yeah true, I was probably harsh. It’s more like people taking a position and then protecting it at all costs, even when it unravels lol

LinkOpensChest_wav,

This whole thread is weird. I think it’s hilarious how people are arguing with you, saying it’s impossible and then linking sites that list every brand owned by Nestlé. You’d think it would occur to them that if one is able to consult a list, that makes it possible to avoid Nestlé products, since one can merely consult the list.

I think there are some synapses not firing here 😅
