Liz,

Ian is a low quality person and it’s rather disappointing. I’m not sure what his political stance is beyond “will this make/lose me money?” He got dropped by Brownells for trying to make an arranged deal on a gun that was supposed to go up for auction.

Ian refused to stand up for Karl when Karl was being attacked for asserting that the 2nd amendment is for everyone (along with all guaranteed rights, more generally). He straight-up refused to say that human rights apply to everyone because he knew it would piss off a good chunk of his audience.

He has a history of bad behavior, but he’s been very good about keeping it quiet, so most people he fucks over think it was an isolated incident.

Liz,

Liz,

Buying the juice feels more “natural” and the American consumer has a section that wants to eat healthy without actually buying produce.

Liz,

That’s why I said “feels” and not “is.”

Liz,

Don’t all microwave ovens have an inverter? Like, isn’t that the thing that produces the photons?

Liz,

Ahhh thank you, I’m getting my words mixed up.

I would imagine having an inverter would allow you to avoid situations where individual parts heat too quickly during your heat cycle, but the advantage probably isn’t that big. Afterall, you could just heat it at a slightly lower power to stop whatever overheating effect you’re troubled with.

Ending support for Windows 10 could send 240 million computers to the landfill. Why not install Linux on them? (gadgettendency.com)

With support ending for Windows 10, the most popular desktop operating system in the world currently, possibly 240 million pcs may be sent to the landfill. This is mostly due to Windows 11’s exorbitant requirements. This will most likely result in many pcs being immediately outdated, and prone to viruses. GNU/Linux may be...

Liz,

I found it absolutely amazing they claim my pretty decent laptop from 2016 can’t run Windows 11. Laptops haven’t gotten that much better since then. Also, supposing it actually couldn’t, it’s a fucking operating system. It should be doing everything it can to stay out of the way. What kind of bloated monstrosity is Windows 11 that my laptop can’t run it?

Liz,

I do actually think this one is an improvement, and I’m usually a UI change hater.

Liz,

It does the same as it did before. Hitting the channel name was just an alternative navigation method to swiping the chat window.

Liz,

Not really. The point of getting really good at it in your teenage years is so that when it shows up 30 years later you have a vauge idea of what you’re looking at and can figure it out again. If you had only a surface level understanding to begin with, it’ll all be totally gone by the time you need it again, and very few people have the gumption to teach themselves a subject from scratch.

Liz,

Ah yes, because plumbers, electricians, and brick layers never have to deal with geometry. That being said, none of my geometry education was taught with a practical motivation. But that being said, I was in the advanced track classes, so none of us were becoming professional carpenters. I’m actually probably one of the most “hands-on” people from that class, both in my job and in my life. I build scientific instruments and enjoy fixing things around the house.

Liz,

I see no reason why that tree had to be cut down.

Liz,

You know someone is extra racist when they manage to make a racist comment on a picture whose only sentient being is a dog.

Liz,

I love how people are mad that you’re right. The only technicality I’d add is that concealed carry is a thing, so you likely walk past people carrying without knowing it, but that’s the whole point of concealed carry in the first place.

Mass shooting events like this are a social problem that ends up being very complex when you start to actually try and figure out why they happen and how to prevent them. There is no short answer, but Angry White Men by Michael Kimmel is a good place to start.

Liz,

You live in a place designed around cars, that’s the problem. Society worked fine without cars for a good long while. We could have adopted trains, bikes, and buses without the car and things would be going swimmingly. The idea is to fix our bad town planning so that it’s reasonable to get to any destination using any mode if transportation.
