Mane25,

It’s weird, I always thought the “power hungry mods” thing was a bit of a running joke spread by people who’d been annoyed about a mod decision or two - it’s really surprised me how true it’s been proven to be and how many actually folded when threatened to be removed.

Mane25,

But from that post:

They’ve told the media that they are actively planning to remove moderators who keep subreddits shut down and have no intentions of making changes.

So, moving forward, we’re going to run IAmA like your average subreddit. We will continue moderating, removing spam, and enforcing rules. Many of the current moderation team will be taking a step back, but we’ll recruit people to replace them as needed.

That doesn’t sound to me like they’re quitting, that sounds to me like they’ll protest but support Reddit for as much as it takes to still be moderators.

Mane25,

The only time I’d use Reddit now is if I had a specific question about a specific topic that’s only covered there.

As far as browsing for fun goes it’s Lemmy all the way, it’s so much nicer than Reddit.

Mane25,

Must be Civ IV - that whole series makes you lose track of time - start a game and that’s the whole weekend gone; even now Civ IV with the Realism Invictus mod feels like it’s got tonnes of gameplay still left in it for me.

That said, OpenTTD has been an enduring favourite of mine for the past few years and because of its flexibility it might surpass it in the long-term.

Mane25,

I’ve heard of eight of these and I’ve tried four. Are any of them better than Belgian frites?

Mane25,

Of course not, but thanks for the sanity check. Do the Popeye ones come with extra spinach I wonder?

Mane25,

They seem to be posting them in their own communities, not spamming them everywhere else. Just don’t subscribe to those communities.

Mane25,

My thoughts exactly, and also it makes it a pretty useless thing to DDoS for what ever reason.

Mane25,

Literally Groundhog Day, it’s one of my favourites and about 20 years ago I started a tradition of always watching it every Feb 2nd, and so I’ve watched it 20 times plus maybe half a dozen times before then.

Mane25,

You can call anything a pizza if you want. It becomes a useful term if it’s commonly understood by your audience.

Mane25, (edited )

I would say a quiche /ˈkiːʃ/ requires eggs whereas a tart doesn’t (necessarily), and I have no idea what a key-tch-zah is, we don’t have them in the UK. A quiche is a type of tart though, yes.

Mane25,

No judgement but here in the UK this is more like what we’d call a flan than a pizza or a pie. So instead of arguing about pizzas and pies, why not embrace a third category?

Mane25,

I’m more of a pizza than that bloody flan! :P

Undisclosed, to RedditMigration

I've heard a few people say that they don't use reddit apps anymore and only access reddit via old.reddit. Could someone explain to me how that resolves the "morality issue"? Isn't that still traffic and aren't they still getting money? Is it less money somehow?

Mane25,

I suppose if you use old Reddit and block ads they’re not making money directly but it’s still traffic.

I always used old Reddit anyway, I left because it turned to shit not because of a particular app.
