You’re right, the pressure gauge shouldn’t change without a leak or temperature change (Boyle’s Law and such). But it’s hard to have a 100%, no-leak extinguisher. There’s plenty of points of failure to keep the thing pressurized, and the leak could be imperceptible (over months) or a rapid failure
And you wanna keep contents from settling as well, so you don’t just spray gas when trying to use it. So you mix it a bit and inspect the gauge every so often, because you don’t want it to fail when you need it most
Ideally, it shouldn’t lose pressure. But also ideally, you don’t have a fire that requires an extinguisher in the first place
But yes, you’re right on that one. “Settling” of the fire-retardent wouldn’t cause a pressure change. It’s just part of the safety inspection to check the gauge as well as to “mix” it… keeping it ready to go

I always right-clicked for the “more info” (or whatever it was) with any suspicious email. It would look like a bunch of html code that I didn’t really understand, but buried in there would be a company name that was usually obvious, like “phishtesting.com” or some bullshit.
I always had a 100% report rate, and always joked that I was waiting to get a prize for my accuracy. And obviously, also a joke to ever think I would get anything for it
The first one, I would be wary because of the colors. I’d rather run from a corn snake than be bitten by a copperhead. When I see color like that, I’m taking a step back regardless, before I even have time to look at it’s face/head
The second one… also gonna be wary of any swimming snake. Could be mostly harmless, or it could be a cotton mouth; but I’m not gonna check it out closely enough, before backing up. It still kinda has that “angry brow” too, if I did happen to get close enough
But I see your point either way. You can’t rely on just one factor for identification. The snake in OP’s video isn’t an “actual” threat to me, so it’s easier to observe.
I guess what I’m kinda saying, is that it helps to know a quick distinction between venomous/non-venomous. It might not be perfect for identification, but it helps the knee-jerk fear of thinking “the only good snake is a dead snake”. It at least helped me reduce my own fear, when I moved to a place where venomous snakes are much more probable.
It doesn’t keep me from reacting, but it definitely helps me from over-reacting
Edit: Looking at pics of the spine-bellied sea snake (Hardwicke’s sea snake), that thing definitely seems deceiving! It really doesn’t fit my usual assumptions. I still wouldn’t mess with any swimming snake, unless I absolutely knew what it was… but still, that is different from what I’ve seen
They still have a bit of an “angry brow” and they are technically venomous… but I’ll be damned if they ain’t cute. One of the few snakes that make me feel compelled to snuggle them

I find it hard to use IMDb ratings as a metric for picking a good horror movie. The scores sometimes seem like they’re just all over the place, when looking at the horror genre. I just watch a trailer, maybe read about it a little, and check it out myself. I would’ve missed a ton of good horror flicks if I had gone with ratings alone
A forum should work in tandem with a chatroom in an “ideal” online community, imo. Searchable Q&A with a communication for additional, nuanced interaction. They serve different purposes and can be more powerful when used together, than they could be on their own.
Lemmy does seem to have a bunch of old, crotchety internet nerds on here that like the “old ways” of the webs. But just tell 'em to “go fuck yourself”, if they’re being a dick; and than don’t reply to them again. It’s very freeing. They’re just butt sensitive about linux and foss, cause they were bullied on early internet forums and now act the same way, when expressing their loud-ass opinions. It’s like an unfortunate cycle of abuse that has existed on forums, but don’t let it discourage you from asking anyway… the question might help others

Not “regular outages” where I’ve worked, but natural disasters and such can happen. Back-up generators run things, but ya still gotta make sure your equipment is plugged into the “generator supplied” outlets.
But now the employees don’t have AC and such. And than the networks are down, so you have to paper-chart everything and the orders get slowed up and… it’s a whole thing. Not the end of the world if you know what you’re doing, but it can be dangerous if people don’t pay attention. It just makes it a bit more stressful to do your job well
Normally, there are plugs labeled for critical equipment (as in, they’re connected to the generators even if the power goes out). But yeah, everything non-essential is kinda down.
You still absolutely need to go check your equipment during a power outage, and make sure your “critical” stuff is plugged into the “generator outlets”. There’s battery power on (pretty much) all critical equipment, so you have a buffer.
I personally don’t rely on batteries being my backup, and keep my critical stuff plugged into the labeled outlets… but you still gotta check; and deal with power being out for everything else

Idk how obscure, but “Puff the Magic Dragon” was definitely a weird one for me. Kinda glad it got lost (probably thrown out, who knows). Almost feels like a fever dream, so much so, that I had to double check the movie even existed
