PM_Your_Nudes_Please, to piracy in Is there any piracy discord/IRC community?

Discord hasn’t historically been kind to piracy communities. Servers on Discord often face sudden bans with no prior warning. So piracy communities on Discord are often pretty useless, because server rules (enacted to keep the server from getting deleted) will prevent users from sharing anything useful. They’re often akin to CrackWatch communities, which only announce when things are cracked, but refuse to actually link to the content.

PM_Your_Nudes_Please, to piracy in If you love piracy you should consider voting/joining your local Pirate Party

The issue is that the politicians benefitting from First Past The Post voting would need to be the ones to enact preferred voting. They benefit from FPTP because it locks voters into the two party “any third party vote is wasted” system. And they have zero reason to change that, because they would be legislating themselves out of office. The two big parties would suffer massive losses if people were able to vote for who they actually wanted, so those two parties have a vested interest in preserving FPTP voting systems.

PM_Your_Nudes_Please, to piracy in Favourite FOSS Torrenting Client for Linux that has a VPN killswitch?

I disagree that it’s simpler, because most VPNs will use dynamic IPs. So any time your internet flickers or your power goes out, you’ll need to reconfigure Transmission with the new IP. Sure your method works for a kill switch. But it requires manual intervention every time it gets killed. With qBit’s interface binding, it doesn’t care what the VPN’s IP is. All it cares about is that it’s using the specific interface. So if the VPN is disconnected (and the VPN’s interface has no connection) then qBit simply thinks there’s no connection to the internet.

PM_Your_Nudes_Please, (edited ) to piracy in VPN portfowarding?

Most VPNs these days don’t allow for static ports; Creeps figured out how to use them for sharing CSAM. So instead, the VPN assigns you a random port every time you connect.

For your torrent client, it’s just a matter of going to your settings and updating the port number when you reconnect. If the system has a stable connection and doesn’t sleep (like a server) then you won’t need to do this often. The port only changes when the VPN reconnects, so it’ll only be an issue if you have a blackout or your internet drops.

As for torrenting without port forwarding, results will be mixed. Some trackers will still allow it, some won’t. Some will only allow very limited speeds. So on the two extreme ends, you may be able to torrent just fine, or you may stall even when there are hundreds of available seeds.

Why not just use Pluto directly? Isn’t it already free? I’m guessing because Pluto has ads, but I’ve never actually used Pluto so I’m not entirely sure.

PM_Your_Nudes_Please, to piracy in I am pouring one out to this little champ. Stripping HDCP and letting me... archive streaming services from 2016-2023 RIP

Yup, same. For the unaware: Macs have always-on HDCP, and it doesn’t always work as intended.

Lots of times, I’m trying to run a projector with a feed from the presenter’s laptop. Laptop is on stage, projector is in the tech booth. And the line in between the stage and the booth will complete the video signal, but not the HDCP handshake. So Windows machines will work fine, but Macs will just outright refuse to send anything.

So yes, I keep an HDCP stripper handy, because whenever a client pulls a MacBook out I know I’m going to need it.

My coworker and I are currently trying to devise a good spot to hide this in the office. Like behind a door with the head poking out, or inside of a rarely used cabinet. When I tell you that my soul would momentarily exit my body as soon as I saw it out of the corner of my eye…

PM_Your_Nudes_Please, to piracy in qBittorrent network interface bind not working?

You’re correct that it’s supposed to prevent leaks. It shouldn’t fall back, though there may be a checkbox for that somewhere in the menu that you have accidentally ticked? I’m not near my computer at the moment, so I can’t just go digging in my own menus to verify.

I mean, go look at some Empress .nfo files and you’ll quickly realize that she is… Not all there. She’s good at what she does in regards to cracking, but she also wants to form a cult of personality.

Oh, and she stepped on a lot of toes because she basically flew in the face of previous crackers’ traditions of not taking money for the cracks. Crackers always wanted to stay on a high horse and act like they were only doing it for the prestige and reputation. Then Empress came in, and was like “fuck yeah I can crack anything you want, but only if you fork over the bounty.” Then as time went on, she started getting more and more restrictive on what she would crack, simply because she doesn’t enjoy certain types of games (like the anime games, apparently.)

PM_Your_Nudes_Please, to piracy in Should I create a new email for a private tracker?

At that point, just get a custom domain with a catch-all email system. Any emails sent to the @[domain] address will hit your inbox, so you can do things like Target@[domain] and Walmart@[domain]. Then if you start getting spam from one of those, you know who leaked it and you can filter them into spam. All without needing to go through the hassle of creating a new email address.

Hell, my password generator (Bitwarden) even has the option to create custom usernames for a catch-all system. It can either do them randomly (like the passwords) or pull them from whatever site I’m making the account on. So like it’ll pull the site’s title and use that as the e-mail address, then append the @[domain] to the end automatically.

PM_Your_Nudes_Please, to piracy in What are your thoughts on fiber through the city?

I never said it’s impossible. I said it’s odd that OP would be complaining about those speeds, as if 50Gbps is slow.

PM_Your_Nudes_Please, to piracy in What are your thoughts on fiber through the city?

For real. If OP is complaining about 50Gbps down, it’s because they’re a time traveler from 2050 and their storage drives start at 5 exabytes.
