I'm pretty sure they were using sarcasm.

Be honest, do you still use reddit?

I used to check the front page at least once every day, and occassionally check specific subreddits. Now I don’t look at reddit unless theres some drama, like mods getting purged, then I’d go there and enjoy the drama. Occasionally there will be questions that only reddit has the answer to so I have to reluctantly use it. I...

I still use Reddit, I didn't move here because I was pissed at apps going away (never used them anyway), just wanted to familiarize myself before I'll be forced to move when they inevitably remove old reddit in the future.

There's still communities important to me that either only exist on Reddit or have way too little engagement here. Until they remove old reddit or that changes, I'll stay on reddit. But I'm doing my part by having disabled ads on reddit (I had them enabled before the third party app stuff).

why do threads that reference articles on outside sites redirect to kbin and not the outside site? (for example, worldnews often shows the external news site, but clicking the link takes you to a kbin.social post showing all the threads referencing that news site, not the actual site and story itself)

@Cherbal
If you mean the link next to the title, that's just a link to the page for the domain on kbin. It's the exact same way old reddit worked (and still does if you use old.reddit.com).
If you want to actually visit the article itself, click on the title while viewing the comments. In the magazine feed the title links to the comments, but when viewing the comments, it links to the actual article.

Reddit feels like it's gone back to 100% normalcy already. Was the protest a failure? (beehaw.org)

I was looking at reddit today, and the front-page felt like nothing happened. I scrolled and scrolled and scrolled and clicked into comments. Everything is popping off buzzing with activity. All the subreddits I was subscribed to that went dark are now back up and business as usual....

A quarter of all subreddits are still private or restricted (can't post in them). This includes ones like /r/music or /r/programming. Of the 6 30+ million subscriber subreddits, only 3 have returned to normalcy. One is restricted, two others are in john oliver mode. The developers of Minecraft have officially abandoned Reddit as a platform, and advertisers are still pulling out as well.

From what I can see, /r/tihi has only been closed, not banned.

The first step is completely different from anything else you've ever done

This isn't really true, you already had to do this for email. Never heard of that being a barrier of entry.

My parents prefer to opt for local privacy/security focused email providers, while I go with gmail for the feature set and design. But I used to try out a few different ones to figure out which one works best for me. Still use a hotmail email for my Windows account.

I fail to see how this is different to the situation with lemmy/kbin instances.

“Magazine” is the biggest offender here. That’s a very unintuitive term.

To be fair, Reddit's variant, "subreddit", isn't very intuitive either, especially if you don't come from a forum background.

What exactly are Reputation Points and how are they calculated? I've got mostly upvoted comments and a few boosts but I'm sitting at -3 and I'd like to know how it works and what it means.

@Peruvian_Skies

Currently reputation is calculated from boosts and reduces (downvotes). Upvotes are favorites and not counted. This will be changed iirc.
