What’s the reasoning behind not having a “system tray” in GNOME? You need to install an extension for that, and that is a weird process for newcomers/beginners....
I like that initial installation is reduced to the max ant then you can add what you need rather than removing what you don’t want. I guess thats a design philosophy where the alternative KDE interface tries to put everything in on initial installation I like as well that GNOME creates rails for app developer to achieve continuity in user experience throughout all apps
Hey, why get rid of valueable computing devices 😃 there is nothing more fun than a rolling distro like arch pr openSuse tumbleweed on old apple hardware
😁 i live a free computing live where I collect trash (mostly from my father and thus apple devices) and install Linux on them to make them treasures
I appreciate you for preventing eWaste by reusing 🤩 that is awesome! I myself use the old macbookpro and iMacs from my father running Linux :D it’s great to live in a time where one can get such powerful computing devices for free 😇 But for watching movies and series, I really appreciate higher resolution and don’t feel satisfied if it is less than 1080 (more if we talking 25" plus)
ok maybe i’m just being a dumbass. I’m getting textbooks off of z-library per the megathread, as they are the only site that lists the specific books I need currently. I am browsing via TOR....
I am going to build a router with OPNSense (in Proxmox, on an HP thin client). I am stuck with setting up the networking (I have the Inel 4-port card). I don’t really know how to get started. Right now my device has one LAN cable going into it, and my consumer router is doing everything. I can set up a bridge for the other...
Plug your phone into the pc and choose to trust the PC. This should share your mobile internet with your PC
I use it all the time, when I distrohop on my laptop with a wifi card that needs to download b43 from the internet before WiFi works 🤪
Definitely unplug existing router, else you may end up with a doubleNAT… I have a physical opnsense (without wifi antenna) plugged between my IPS router which in modem mode and another proprietary router which acts as bridge and wifi access point.
44gb for 1080 seems to be a remux file, which is the source of channel not converted but only repackaged. Just remove remux from your profiles and sed radarr to upgrade to other 1080 profiles by moving remux down in the list.
Sorry if this was asnwered before, but couldn’t find it. I can’t seem to find any groups that usually release really small sized 4k rips like rarbg used to do. Movies went from ~5GB to ~20GB, and I really can’t tell that much difference in quality that justifies 4x the size....
Smallest 4k x265 movie i found in my Mediathek after a short search are from LAMA, they are 5 to 7 Gb I got them on a Indexer that has a really similar name than that movie with the green font and the robots that produce humans for energy while keeping them in a simulated world so that they grow right. I use usenet.
First real terminal contact (except for limited use in macOS) I had working at a company which now uses embedded Linux in their product. After that I got in a situation where I had no computing device with admin rights running anymore. iPhone, iPad, corporate locked windows. Once there was the day I needed admin again, so I went searching and found an old iMac lying around, macOS was barley useable (low spec) and I just managed to create a bootable stick with it. Fast forward 2 years, I now have the old iMac of my dad with better specs running tumbleweed with Gnome, and I love it, with the right extensions, this frontend is very fun to use.
Well hello there, I’m diving into the *arr suite of things currently and am trying to setup everything to my usecase. I think I mostly already understood, how a single quality profile works within itself, like upgrading quality and so on. But what I didn’t get yet, why would I want multiple different quality profiles to...
I had a 4k an a 1080 profile because of limited space but now I have everything set to 4k Quality > Quantity And redownloading takes max 10min, so it’s not too bad to delete some stuff
I guess WSL is best way, but I think you’ll only be able to have the Linux windows like windows windows in the taskbar of windows and launch them with windows
I’m in the market for a Linux friendly ultralight laptop to check web apps and run terminal, nothing fancier then that. Do any cheap systems exits these days? I was looking at a chrome book but apparently the mediatek chip doesn’t play nicely with FOSS....
Yea, I tried with Firefox PWA, but as you have told, it was not usable for me. Most PITA was, that I had to install my plugins on any PWA again and again… I would love using a browser which is not chromium based but has nice PWA features.
