Idunno, I don’t fuss about that because I’m perfectly capable of thinking that they’re both terrorists and freedom fighters.

They’re fighting for the freedom of Gaza… but they use terrorism tactics, refuse to abide by ceasefires, and have genocidal beliefs.

Those don’t seem mutually exclusive for me.

We all contain multitudes.

But that said, somebody who goes to “freedom fighter” as their first noun for them, that’s kind of a red flag.

I’ve seen plenty of contrarian tankies who are pro Hamas. Often the same “anti imperialists” who hate the West so much they think supporting Ukraine is bad.

Personally I’m of the opinion that both sides are genocidal and anybody with a clear idea what to do there is lying, but I’ve been banned from !worldnews as “genocide denial” for agreeing with Biden that we should be suspicious of the claimed death numbers coming out of Palestine because both sides have a history of lying about violent acts in their conflict.

Yes, but in this case there are actual measurable benefits to hang-drying besides financial cost. Unlike the dishwasher, hang drying is measurably greener. And also it tends to prolong the life of your clothes.

This is a case where “being lazy” has a real trade-off, like fixing yourself a meal from proper ingredients vs nuking a TV dinner.

Dishwashers are actually greener than hand-washing. Do I have to link the TechnologyConnections video?

I remember those days, having to remind myself that the relief of “whew, it’s just urine” is not okay.

Same with toddler toys:

“It can go in the dishwasher, the washing machine, or the garbage”.

I have 3 kids and do the laundry on Wednesday and Sunday, about 3-4 loads each time. Everything gets hang-dried except towels, socks, pyjama-pants, and men’s undies, which go in one big late-night load in the dryer when the juice is cheap.

It takes 2 small clothes horses in my laundry room. Not a huge basement.

Only time I’m doing lots of drying is when I’m washing sheets, which is probably less often than I should.

It’s kind of a moot point anyways? I mean, how good do you think they’re going to be at parrying under this circumstance? They’re both gonna get stabbed in the chest.

Vader has The Force, but Wolverine can recover from whatever injuries he gets. Vader has been removed from battle by serious wounds at least 3 times so far.

There’s an AJ video where they claimed what he describes. It’s… not convincing. In fact it retroactively destroys some of the respect I had for AJ.

aljazeera.com/…/what-hit-ahli-hospital-in-gaza

It tries to use the video from the local cameras to show that the rocket was intercepted.

From the commentary “That video clearly shows how the iron dome intercepted these rockets”

But the images it shows don’t really back up their claim. We’re not really seeing any “intercepted” happening.

I watched the al Jazeera vid where they pushed that theory and it’s completely incoherent. I honestly lost a lot of respect for AJ there.

The amount of verbal abuse my Google Assistant has absorbed will guarantee I’ll be first against the wall when the machines come. But I’ll know: she really is a distended sack of dumb-ass diodes.

Wait, the “vampires don’t have reflections” doesn’t include their clothes? Which means any fully-reflectionless vampire is nude?

We all got trauma. Trauma isn’t what makes Batman interesting. Obsession is. The maniacal motivation to make himself into the greatest DCU superhero by sheer force of will.

Idunno, I like the reverse better:

Batman’s nuts. Like everybody else in Gotham. He’s pathologically obsessed with beating the crap out of criminals with his bare hands because he needs to emotionally. The fact that he’s saving the world is incidental.

That actually makes his “no killing” rule make more sense. A person doing this for moral reasons would grapple with the continuous living trolley problem embodied by The Joker, and would likely eventually do what needs to be done. An otherwise-decent person feeding addiction to violence would draw a hard line in the sand that he will never ever cross no matter the cost. Which sounds more like Bats?

It also makes his choice of weapons make more sense – tazers don’t satisfy him the way his fists do.

Yes he might also do philanthropic things but that’s not what drives him.

A hero driven by dark needs is way more interesting than a boring paragon of virtue.

It also gives his emotional divide from Nightwing a more coherent moral centre than just “Nightwing didn’t like how Batman’s mean”.

Good to see that Favreau is directing, not Filoni.

I like Filoni’s world-building - imho he “gets” the Star Wars universe in a way that other writers don’t… but I absolutely cannot stand his writing and directing. I remember watching his episode of Mando, the one where Ashoka fights in a Japanese-esque village, and the dialog was so awful I immediately googled to see who was making that awful ep and sure-enough it was him. I want him commanding the ship but not steering it.

He’s got a good sense of vision and a nice stable of continuous characters to carry forwards the franchise, but I can’t stand any of the shows he makes. Somehow they manage to be both tedious with infodumps of backstory while at the same time they make it feel like you’re missing most of the background because you didn’t watch a zillion episodes of his TV shows.

And while his capturing of the Star Wars “feel” is better than most, it’s still very prequel-y compared to others.

With him at the helm, even with good directors like Favreau involved, it will likely feel like the recent MCU films - okay-ish movies bogged down with too much CGI and too much continuity from previous entries that weren’t good-enough to deserve a follow-up.

I can’t be the only person noticing that somebody is posting a comic about mushrooms with the handle “stamets”.

It’s funny, the thing that bugs me the most in this is the over-expressivism of Threepio’s movements. He bulges and wobbles exactly like Anthony Daniels’ character doesn’t. Giving him more restrained motions would likely be easier animation.
