It was designed as an enormous underground ring complex situated close to Waxahachie and had it been allowed to go forward, would have been considered the most energetic particle accelerator in the world. Who funds Hamas? Iran.
Who funds Iran? Russia
it would certainly be in Russia’s interest to deflect the west’s attention from Ukraine
Gotta figure that with the arty and planes bombing Gaza, the Palestinian KIA is the same. So that’s 1200 in a little over 24 hours and counting. Big number.
Thing is, this isn’t small. Hamas is well organized and there a lot of them making a coordinated attack. Probably most worrisome is they’re taking civilian hostages. Have no idea what they think their endgame might be, but this going to go on for a while.
Hamas is making a stupid move. Palestinians have needed a Gandhi for generations and all they’ve gotten are violent clowns. Peace was so tantalizingly close in 2000 and Arafat blinked. It’s been all downhill from there. (Just to be clear, I don’t think the Israelis are innocent lambs in any of this—they’re clearly the oppressors—but the Palestinian response has made it hard to paint this as a clear good guys/bad guys situation.
