If piracy is moral and ethical and enables us to share knowledge, why do private trackers gatekeep this knowledge? It goes against the principles of piracy. Do they do it just to feel superior about bring in a sekrit club?
I recently joined TL as my first tracker and I must say, the quality and seeders are really good. Since they enforce seeding ratios/times and incentivise it, it becomes a self sustaining system.
Most trackers have minimum time after which you can stop seeding, and reseed request system where you are notified if anyone wants a dead torrent to be reseeded.
Cool. The government is incompetent and tech illiterate here so I’m safe anyway. It’s like running from a bear, I just have to outrun the others running from it.
There are people who pirate stuff from telegram using their mobile numbers, so I’m fine.

Every single time.
Not everyone has the time and resources to relearn a new piece of software when they already have their workflow sorted out. Nobody asked for FOSS alternatives, it’s a piracy sub.
Besides, shit like GIMP isn’t even half as good as photoshop.
There are plenty of artists who use pirated software to create shit but haven’t got into trouble, the trick is to block the network requests and strip the Metadata.
And MS/Adobe would not go for a small patreon artist because they know that if they go too far, people will be pushed towards their competitors, which they don’t want since their business model hinges on being the most widely used software and thus not allowing any competition to grow.
I am just getting back my sea legs, but apparently they’re pretty shaky because I can’t get my ubuntu torrent (no seriously, it is) to download. It never starts downloading and is stuck in “stalled”.
