OLED tech gets better every year

Built in pixel shifts and better hardware is making burn-in on OLEDs a lot more comparable to the normal amount of burn-in LCDs and plasmas experience

If you can afford it, OLED everytime for everything imo

They do try and retcon/justify it with the Federation-Klingon war happening at the same time which would make for a less... clean cut flagship commander

But in reality youre right, Kirk probably has more war crimes and prine directive strikes under his belt than Janeway LOL

I would also lean closer towards 'same animal' but its physical morphology undergoes such drastic changes its definitely blurred lines

Psychologically I think there are tests that show butterflies and moths retain memories from pre-metamorphisis stages
