Spendrill,

Listen, just go and read the thing; it will be time better spent than listening to me precis it from memory. but if you do read it a feel like it hasn’t given you an insight into what drives a whole host of behaviour that one sees on social media or that I’ve misunderstood the book then do come back to me and I will refresh my memory of the book to have that discussion with you.

Spendrill,

That cat looks healthy enough to me. my guess is it thinks it will be rewarded with food but it could be anything with cats.

Spendrill,

Yeah, it does look that way. I wonder if the cat sees humans doing crunches and thinks that they’re trying to lick their chests. Also, is that a second cat or a small dog there at the end?

Spendrill,

Because human beings are weird at times too.

Spendrill,

I helped her out of a jam, I guess

But I used a little too much force

Spendrill,

I’m enjoying the title more than the meme tbh.

Spendrill,

Well what it ‘proves’ to them is that mankind is supposed to follow the exact same routine that works for them. My Dad was forever saying “Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.” Died when he was 45.

Spendrill,

He didn’t have a ton of money certainly. It’s fair to say he wasn’t a complete idiot but I think that even the example I’ve given so far argues against any claim to sagacity.

Spendrill,

Morning people, in my experience at least, firmly believe that night people are just morning people with insufficient self-discipline.

Or yet another way to look at it is that when people are venting it’s not the actual problem that they’re venting about it’s the uncomfortable emotions that come about as a result of problem. Very usually, someone is doing something that makes their lives harder but it is within a very specific environment, e.g. work, school, some kind of committee, where there are rules against settling disputes by right of arms. So even though I might have a really elegant solution for ‘solving’ that particular dispute, what I tend to be listening to long term tends to be, 'Coworkers… can’t live with 'em, can’t kill ‘em’. To which the correct answer is obviously not ‘You could solve that problem with Piranha Solution - removes organic material from the substrate’, it’s ‘Yes, we do have to put up with annoying people for a long time sometimes.’

Spendrill,

and they weren’t besieged during WWII.

Cheese eating surrender monkeys. Created a state of the art defence system but didn’t extend it across the gap where ‘the Germans will never invade through such rough terrain’ although they did before during WWI.

Spendrill,

I did not expect a sick Starman reference today.

Spendrill,

I have a soft spot for Karen Allen but it’s not in the top five John Carpenter films.

Spendrill,

Not only that, corvids understand the concept of zero fucks given.

Spendrill, (edited )

Oh thank heavens, he’s smoking. I thought dude was sniffing his fingers.

Spendrill,

That is an interesting story and I appreciate that OP’s picture reminded you of it but I don’t think that person is ‘under-dressed’ even though I’d agree that some odd gender coding is going on in the image.

Spendrill,

The argument you’re making seems to be that he is overdressed.

Spendrill,

Yeah, absolutely do not be sitting on a ride along mower, that doesn’t have an air-conditioned bubble, in shorts. You will have a bad time.
