EU regulation and oculus quest

Ive seen MS is having to do a lot of work in regards to pro privacy due to EU regulation, I switched on my oculus quest which I keep offline and questioned if enforced account, locked in applications that serve beyond base functions and the locked down setting, surely all this goes against privacy laws in some way....

Squid,

Could be big. Love wine but even games with native release for Linux have wine reliance

Squid,

Yes this is what I meant, thank you.

Cities skylines is one example.

Use appimagelauncher Application that will add appimages to application menu

Squid,

Interesting read, love stuff like this but it seems they’d be a lot of dev overhead to truly make something large and agnostic but still gotta commend it!

Squid,

Its a massive industry problem where code is so much more heavier where devs are reliant on brut hardware force rather than refining code to be light.

Not boomer sentiment at all

Squid,

Hard disagree there. Look to capitalism

Squid,

Usually projects on github. Personally I use Appimages for things like Mypaint a digital drawing application, krita and most other KDE applications as to avoid all the dependency’s KDE has in its eco system or at least to put them somewhere easier to manage

Squid,

You should quit in “satire”

Squid,

Calm down ok

Squid,

If software is influenced by human nature then its not a stretch to apply the same philosophy to political systems

Squid,

I came looking for your comment. Julia birthed a meme

What's an elegant way of automatically backing up the contents of a large drive to multiple smaller drives that add up to the capacity of the large drive?

So I have a nearly full 4 TB hard drive in my server that I want to make an offline backup of. However, the only spare hard drives I have are a few 500 GB and 1 TB ones, so the entire contents will not fit all at once, but I do have enough total space for it. I also only have one USB hard drive dock so I can only plug in one...

You’ll have ask the question of how important is this data, then before you start run drive diagnostic tool to see if all are functioning as expected, I’d suggest moving directories aposed to chopping anything up as to maintain some form of redundancy if a drive were to fail. It’ll be a long process. Hope it goes well

Resync is a handy tool

Squid,

I hate my country and the old cunts who are clueless on what they’re allowing. The old adage “you can get the toothpaste out, you can’t put it back.”

A lot of free and open source products are in fact funded through grants or corpates

[Discussion] How do you feel about age verification on Porn sites? (lemmings.world)

Porn sites Pornhub, XVideos, and Stripchat face stricter requirements to verify the ages of their users after being officially designated as “Very Large Online Platforms” (VLOPs) under the European Union’s Digital Services Act (DSA)....

    Another reason to pirate

Also if the government do feel the need to “help” parents and the larger social fabric then why not put money into civil dutys classes in schools. Teach kid how to grow into normal adults, the trickle down would be much greater than these half baked ducktape tactics

    Squid,

I say that they’re mind set while fine for them will negatively effect society. This often turns into a tangent.

I will also ask them for they’re personal and work emails to log in.
