Stillhart, to linux in I didn't know where else to ask this, if there is another comm i should ask please lmk. Do you have any suggestions for wireless headphones i can use with linux?

My laptop has BT built in and it works fine with everything I’ve connected to it so I don’t see why any BT headphones wouldn’t work. I think you probably just need to get a BT card/dongle for your system and then you can use whatever headphones you want. So the question you probably should be asking is: what BT card/dongle works with my system?

Stillhart, to linux in As a normal, boring user that does nothing special other than browse the internet and the occasional "casual coding" -- what am I supposed to do with 32GiB of ram?

Yeah, that day when you got your first whole MB of RAM… I remember mine was on SIPP chips.

Stillhart, to linux in Steam On Linux Usage Spikes To Nearly 2% In July, Larger Marketshare Than Apple macOS

Count me as one of those new Linux users. I’ve been trying to switch since the 90’s and Linux gaming is finally viable. I know this is in large part thanks to Valve, so thanks, Valve!

Stillhart, to asklemmy in How do you enjoy listening to digital content? Speakers? Headphones? Earbuds?

Youtube videos have terrible audio. Any of the streaming audio services (even Youtube Music) will sound better.

As far as how I listen, I use wi-fi to speakers or wi-fi to streamer/dac/amp/headphones depending.

Stillhart, to asklemmy in Liftoff. Lemmy app. Do you like the way it works now?

I’m not a fan. It’s laid out weird, like a Apple app or something. I just couldn’t get used to it.

Connect and Jerboa are the two I’m trying to decide between now.

Stillhart, to linuxmemes in Some trouble

Okay, I’ll bite. I’ve been trying Linux every few years for the last few decades and it’s never been anywhere close to replacing Windows for me. I’m not a luddite; I was in tech for many years (MCSE certified) but there just… ALWAYS something that doesn’t work right. And there’s NEVER a simple fix. Linux for me ends up being more of a hobby than a tool and I haven’t had the time or patience to deal with it in the past.

But I’m willing to try again,

Anyone have any resources to get me pointed in the right direction? Which distro to try, how to install as a dual-boot on an exiting Windows machine without breaking it, how to get Steam/Nvidia drivers/games going, etc?

EDIT - Apparently trying to dual boot with Windows on a machine with two physical drives is too much to ask (unless you have a CS degree). Maybe next time, Linux.

Stillhart, to asklemmy in Is there a line from a movie that really resonated with you but when you say it most people don't get the reference?

“Kick his ass, Sea Bass!”

You might check out the 1More wireless headphones. They’re my go-to recommendation for someone who wants something that’s not garbage but doesn’t want to pay full audiophile prices. I haven’t heard this particular headphone from them, but they’re known to have good sound quality for the price, generally by sacrificing some build quality. However, this beats out a lot of the comparably priced competition that sacrifices both.

Stillhart, to linux in Nobara 39 Officially Released

Because of the switch to KDE from Gnome? Or something else I’m missing?

Stillhart, to linux in What distros have you tried and thought, "Nope, this one's not for me"?

Garuda. I tried it because it’s supposed to be “gamer” oriented. I thought it meant it would make it easier/smoother for gaming. What they actually meant was it felt like being locked inside a gaming PC with flashing and spinning RGB lights everywhere. No fucking thanks.

Stillhart, (edited ) to linux in Audio Hardware Question from a Linux newbie

Step one is probably figuring out why the Mojo is turning off. If it’s the USB power going to sleep, the answer could be as simple as running the power USB cable directly to an outlet instead of the computer (which is often better for audio quality anyways). Otherwise, I’d look into the spdif link that the other person posted.
