TheAlbatross,

Chopped pickles and hot sauce with the.mayo is my go to answer. Or chopped smoked Chipotle in Adobo sauce. Veg like tomato and celery also work well.

Because a lot of German humor is pun based and when the translated into English, the joke doesn’t land and so the English started this farce that the Germans ain’t funny

Germans are plenty funny, the English are the problem

TheAlbatross, (edited )

The Germans? Jealous isn’t the right word, but I do enjoy it. I like the joke about the vampire on the Tandem bike.

The English? Ahahaha hell no, but the pathetic englishman is a funny character for sure. The English lost their knack for comedy some decades ago and many of the modern ones are kinda just relying on shock humor that isn’t really funny and kinda just makes em seem like bigoted geriatrics yearning for glory days when they were relevant.

Liked The Mighty Boosh well enough tho.

TheAlbatross,

I thought AI generated stuff wasn’t allowed here?

TheAlbatross,

I dunno… I liked that Risa was staunchly against AI generated stuff. It’s disappointing to see that’s not the case.

[QUESTION] Do you have any favorite quick broth recipes for homemade instant ramen?

I picked up a bunch of unflavored instant ramen packets with the intention of making my own. I’m a big fan of Korean Ramyun packs and make them often, but they are getting pricy nowadays. Does anyone else in c/cooking do this as well? What are your favorite quick broth recipes?

TheAlbatross,

I buy chicken/beef bouillon powder and use that with dry noodles. You can make a mushroom broth by steeping dried mushrooms in hot water for 15-30 minutes, too.

Someone else mentioned daishi, that’s a great soup base as well. If you wanna spend a little more time on it, you can boil kombu and dried anchovies placed in a tea bag in a pot of water to make a larger batch of broth.

TheAlbatross,

I think the joke is more about how the Chinook helicopter has two sets of rotors.

TheAlbatross,

There’s a scene in Disco that heavily implies it, where we see the silhouette of a Klingon drainin’ the lizard and there are two distinct streams.

But, hey, maybe they just woke up or something.

TheAlbatross,

I’m similarly minded. A friend and I have talked about doing this for some time, but it’s such an old joke I sorta fear it wanders into the same territory as asking the grocery clerk if the item that didn’t scan is free.

TheAlbatross,

Any y’all SmartTV users know how to eliminate the excess telemetry the TV uses to eat up my bandwidth?

TheAlbatross, (edited )

Bookshelves don’t have to just be for books, either! Ours is a mixed setup with a few plants, books, of course, some video games since it’s near the TV and boardgames. We also put a few eye-catching objects on it to add some color and inspire conversations.

Edit: BookS, plural! Though, I bet it could be striking if you put one single book on the shelf and filled the rest of it with other objects.

TheAlbatross,

Buy blocks of hot pot seasoning to keep in the freezer and cut off a small portion to taste to throw in there for a major flavor upgrade.

TheAlbatross,

I find dried mushrooms are tastier and they add umami to the broth, but it adds cooking time, so it’s really a matter of preference.

TheAlbatross,

Which episode is this, again? I’ve been showing my Trek adverse boyfriend some of the more fun episodes of DS9 after he sat down to view the baseball ep with me and I wanna show him this one! (Other suggestions gladly welcomed)

O! foolish male lifestyle influencers
Woe to your machinations and merch stores
It is I who yearns to be the homemaker

Most of the hangover is just dehydration, so the Gatorade really does help a lot. Pedialyte or a different sports drink would do similarly, but also getting in shape, sleeping right, drinking plenty of water on the days you’re not drinking helps mitigate the issues with a little indulgence just fine.

But, everyone is different so your milage may vary.

TheAlbatross,

Have a Gatorade before and after you drink.

There ya go, fellow 30-something party people, saved ya a hangover, just hope with that no one suggests a venue change to the club at 11:30

TheAlbatross,

Thanks for the concern, but I think you read my comment backwards.

TheAlbatross, (edited )

Yeah, during a majority of the year. On the rare weekend where schedules align such that a buncha 30-somethings can get together and party?

Gatorade. Or Brodes.

Everything in moderation, my friend. Especially moderation.

TheAlbatross,

There’s a part of me that wants to suggest recipes to save you from this nightmare, but your ignorance is your bliss and it comes from a readily available, cheap and easy to prepare cardboard box.

Truly, a conundrum.

TheAlbatross,

I thought AI posts were banned from Risa, and rightfully so.

TheAlbatross,

It’s not really here or there, but when I was a young child, I saw Star Trek: The Next Generation before Reading Rainbow, so my parents had to explain how actors worked when I was baffled how the blind man was teaching me how to read.

I did love Reading Rainbow, though, and still read regularly, probably in part thanks to Levar Burton.

TheAlbatross,

My boyfriend said he sees David Byrne as a role model.

A clearly anxious man who finds it within him to love freely while being his own goofy self and speaking his mind.

I found that really appealing and now we dance along while singing his songs in the living room.

TheAlbatross,

This just made me plenty hungry for kugel…

I’ve never made one with cheddar, though, and I don’t think I’ll start.
