Have you read my other comments? I don’t really need an explanation of how home ownership works. I owned a home for a decade. I lost money. I’m not saying that always happens, just that there are several factors not considered by many people who want to be a homeowner. Yes, it’s practically always less expensive, but it’s also often stressful.
You rent for 20 years, all the money you’ve spent over those 240 months is gone forever.
… we pay for things we’d rather not deal with all the time. No, it’s not money pissed into the wind, I got something for it. Peace of mind for those 20 years. Sleeping in instead of mowing the grass or taking the mower to a mechanic so I can do that.
I have enough stress to deal with without maintaining a property. I may decide to make that trade off again some day, but it’s absolutely not this cut and dried thing where renting is stupid if you can own. There are a lot of tradeoffs involved in owning vs renting.
I currently have a PC running Windows 11 that my S/O and I use multi-seated with Aster Multiseat. However, we’re both equally sick of Windows and are interested in switching to Linux....
The performance I’m seeing on AMD makes me tend to agree with your first point. Looks fantastic and framerates are really nice.
I’m not really interested in AI except for the realtime background noise removal I’d heard about like 2 years ago which apparently Nvidia rtx cards can do. But in all this time I never set it up so I obviously wasn’t that interested in it!
Surely amd will get gpgpu support working at some point!
I had a great time in paris. I didn’t find the stereotype to be true. I only had one person be rude to me… Whereas in New York, people can be quite rude for almost no reason
Depends on how much writing you are doing. I think that if you’re doing tons of writes all the time, HDD might edge out SSD, but it all depends on a lot.
Floppies were an entirely different beast. Instead of a disk failing every few years, a floppy disk that hadn’t been used in a few months, in my experience, was about 50/50 if it was bad or corrupted in some way.
Yeah, the use of “related” in only one way is a pet peeve of mine. Relationships have many natures, and I think we all intuitively know that. I don’t believe in arbitrarily enforcing one of those types as the only valid one. Notice I never said anything false. I just think it’s fascinating to learn about those relationships and think about the things we can’t know. It’s not as though I imagined that they are super similar and then argued for that being fact …
“Technically”… I was simply trying to state that the absolutes being used here are wrong. They are. I am not interested at the moment in splitting hairs, that was never what I was trying to discuss. I happen to think it’s interesting to see how things are related. I think I’d love studying linguistics if it weren’t for your type being so prevalent. The type of person who will say “this has absolutely nothing to do with that” as if the only valuable perspective is to split and divide, and that taking a glimpse at the unknowable mysteries-- of exactly how historical changes played out-- is stupidity that should be stomped on.
It’s 100% true that there is a relationship and telling people there isn’t serves only to make you feel smart. I made no false assertions whatsoever so stop acting like I’m spreading dangerous lies.
Your repeated mention of centrism is bizarre, as is how monumentally condescending you are being while asserting you’re the victim of such.
I am not a centrist, that’s what apparently you want to be. Centrism is just giving a name to choosing ignorance and pretending it makes you a super advanced genius

I think that installation was originally 18.04 and I installed it when it was released. A while ago anyways and I’ve been upgrading it as new versions roll out and with the latest upgrade and snapd software it has become more and more annoying to keep the operating system happy and out of my way so I can do whatever I need to...
…tech companies use email all day long to link digital data together. Most people who manage a newsletter do not write their own newsletter software. In fact practically none of them do. Ergo, you get tracked via newsletter also.
Haven’t had to have a repair shop deal with any of the 30+ usb-c devices I’ve had.
The funny thing here is you’re trying to say that lightning cables are just meant for charging and they weren’t. They were meant to make money by creating a proprietary licensable technology that mimics usb-c in almost every way
