Veraxus, to memes in I will rue the day this inevitably happens.

Maybe we'll get lucky and Gaben will leave ownership of the company collectively to it's employees.

Veraxus, to linux in Switching to Debian on my gaming pc
@Veraxus@kbin.social avatar

Debian is my go-to. So long as you’re already comfortable with Linux, you can get gaming working with a tiny bit of elbow grease… and unlike some other distros, Debian is rock-solid.

Veraxus, to privacy in Gitlab now requires phone number/credit card verification
@Veraxus@kbin.social avatar

I really, really like Gitlab... but this is a MAJOR problem and spectacularly short-sighted.

@Veraxus@kbin.social avatar

That sort of thing already happens in the enterprise world. If it gets maintained because a customer wants to pay for that entirely, it happens.

But if they abandon it, even unintentionally, then it needs to become public domain.

Veraxus, to science_memes in abandonware empires
@Veraxus@kbin.social avatar

I would. Not only would I do so voluntarily, but I also support STRONG consumer protection laws that would force any product or software or copyright or patent into public domain the instant it’s been unavailable for sale for 3 or more years or has gone without update for 5 years.

Our public domain and consumer protections are pathetic, and should be vigorously bolstered and defended.

You are thinking of beef. The Rich are full of bacteria and parasites and should be thoroughly cooked before consuming.

Veraxus, to memes in Common Marx W
@Veraxus@kbin.social avatar

That’s an easy one.

It means “disassemble all checks and balances, strip the people of all power and authority, and concentrate the power and authority into the hands of a chosen party-aligned dictator or oligarchy.”

Small government doesn’t get any smaller than a totalitarian dictatorship.

Veraxus, to asklemmy in What is your ideal Oreo dippage time? (Or your biscuit or cookie of choice.)
@Veraxus@kbin.social avatar
  1. Fill a cup with oreos.
  2. Cover with milk.
  3. Wait until oreos become paste.
  4. Stir and eat with spoon.

Also, my favorite cookie/biscuit used to be Mother’s Taffy sandwich cookies, but then they went out of business, got bought out, brought back, and ruined by completely changing the recipe. Pretty sure the new recipe is just cardboard pulp and reclaimed wastewater.

I miss those.

Veraxus, (edited ) to movies in Gen Z is turned off by onscreen sex, wants no-mance over romance, a new study finds
@Veraxus@kbin.social avatar

I'm with Gen Z on this. Hell, I've have been complaining about this since I was a kid in the 80s. You do not need every damn relationship to be a romance. People can be friends and acquaintances and frienemies and enemies and everything in-between without there being romance or sex.

Veraxus, to asklemmy in Any advice for someone who broke bones that need surgery to fix?
@Veraxus@kbin.social avatar

It'll be fine. Surgery is neat. If they put you under, one second you are awake and counting backwards... and then you are suddenly waking up.

The most important thing is do exactly what they tell you... especially any and all rehab afterward. Take the rehab seriously, because if you shirk it, you are very likely pay for that for the rest of your life.

Veraxus, to memes in hey hows everyone doing
@Veraxus@kbin.social avatar

You are correct.

Remember kids, the singular is semite, not semete. Hence, sem_i_tic, with an i.
