Not that I’ve tested, but the peformance gain would probably be slim. Overall, its running pretty smooth on my setup.

That’s not true anymore, somebody from the community reverse engineered the MRC blob a couple months back. The only RYF concern is Intel Management Engine (which is disabled, but still its there). LibreMRC is still being tested, the resolution for SeaBIOS is still messy but it works!

Zeon,

That guys humor is so dry. I mean, look I won’t lie here sometimes I watch him out of boredom. Most of the time I just click off his videos after I watch for a few seconds to see what its about. Dude literally just cuts stuff from his live streams and reposts it on YouTube to make double the profit.

I think if we we’re to see the analyze the average watch time of his videos, it would probably be low.

Backdoors in the CPU microcode, backdoors in the proprietary firmware of your motherboard / hard drives, backdoor through Intel Management Engine / AMD PSP. They’re all hardware level backdoors that can’t easily be disabled / replaced on newer systems.

There are only a select few of systems out their that can run a fully free BIOS with no IME, but those systems are about 15+ years old. In terms of freedom, we’re fucked. Even if you do switch to GNU/Linux, you’re still not entirely free.
